Did the mujahideen hate the USSR for their freedoms?
Think of the people who buy the b.s. about the terrorists having motivations completely unrelated to U.S. policy.

Would their minds be blown contemplating why these same terrorists fought on our side against the Evil Empire?

Good question. Guess Afghanis will take arms from anyone (including the U.S.) to expel infidels from their land.

3. No they were on our side then,
but they all got brainwashed by the commies and became liberals. So now they hate us for our freedoms. It's quite simple really.

4. Good point.
But conservatives/freepers don't read history and have extremely short, if selective, memories.
They just look at the extremists as an amorphous blob of hate.

5. The "freedoms" justification was supposed to convince simple
minds, the majority of the voting public.

6. No, we were supporting a war against Atheism
as part of our war to make the world safe for the capitalist wet dream: personal amassing of limitless wealth with no constraints for the rights of the weak.
