Reagan funeral wouldn't have become such a joke if they weren't
trying to drag it out forever and canonize him. He was an old, sick man. He wasn't the Pope - he wasn't a young president who was assassinated. republicuns and their allies in the media are using this death to pump up bush.
Dragging that man's dead body all across country from CA to DC for speechifying is pathetic. Bury him and be done with it already!

1. You're suffering from Gipper Fatigue
Studies will show at least 70% of the population will demonstrate varying degress of Gipper Fatigue with the climax from the resulting Right Wing Reagasm occuring with the eulogy on Friday.

3. But..
It's all they have.

What they are going to try an convince people the tax cuts were a good idea? The country knows better.

War on Iraq is going good? The explosions and caskets tell another story.

Our economy is doing well? Stocks are starting to slump. Greenspan is about ready to tell everyone about the interest rate bubble. Smart economist have proven the economy is doing as well as it is, howver bad that may be, mostly due to military contracts with American corporations.

Maybe they could try using Bush's honesty. Nope. Everyone knows he's lying.

Ronnie's death is all they have to distract American's from the real issues. It's why they act so offended if anyone dares question their hero. It's all they have.

7. Welcome, and you nailed it.
They're desperate for good news, and for them, Reagan's death is good news. They seem to think they're going to get some reflected glory.

However, per usual, they have overreached. Too busy buying their own bullshit to take a read on reality, where the people are moving on. The big validation of all things Republican on Friday is going to cause no appreciable gain for Bush. As you point out, facts keep getting in their way.

6. The sooner they bury the hawk faced bastard the better
It had to eventually happen, so let's get it over with so it can be forgotten. They will deny it, but rayguns did more harm to this country with short sighted greedy programs than anyone else in history, except maybe chimp. Good riddance rayguns.

8. I find fault more with the media.
Most of these plans for Reagan's funeral were made (presumably) by Reagan himself and his family. But I don't see the need to cut to a live shot of Reagan's coffin every five minutes. It's unnecessary and rather buzzard-like, IMO. Were they expecting him to hop out of the coffin or something?

9. They were laughing and joking about all the coverage on Howard Stern this
morning. On Monday he had mentioned some things about Reagan he thought were good and things he thought were bad and said it needed to be put into perspective, the hero-worshiping stuff was stupid.

By today they were marveling at how exaggerated all the coverage is and laughing at the people who are going gaga about the whole thing and had a little skit about Reagan up in heaven. So as usual, the Republicans are taking things too far and making themselves look ridiculous to everyone but their pompous selves.

10. My email to CNN:
"Is Reagan still dead? I think you need more coverage to keep us up to date. And while you're at it, could you please increase your Laci Peterson coverage? I just can't get through the day without knowing every salacious detail. No one that I know discusses this very important topic so I need to rely on CNN to keep me informed."
