Who's behind the big push for Reagan monuments? Their press releases HERE
According to their first press release, the mission of the "Reagan Legacy Project" is to create lasting monuments to the memory of Ronald Reagan in every state. They've been at it since at least June 1997. Notice how in their February 4 1999 propaganda they claim to be nonpartisan, though their board includes only Republican National Committee chairmen and names such as Grover Norquist, Ward Connerly, Phyllis Schlafly, Edwin Feulner, Martin Anderson, and Jeanne Kirkpatrick. Apparently, this group is part of what George Orwell would have called "the inner Republican party", and they decided years ago to make Reagan into an American Lenin.

7. You are thinking too small, dammit!
Reagan deserves so much more!

How about the "Saint Ronald Reagan Memorial Local Group of Galaxies"?

Surely he deserves it!

13. And there was the then RNC chairman, Nicholson, along with his future successor,
Racicot. Not only have the Republicans politicized Reagan's funeral, they have been politicizing it for more than seven years, while the Gypper was still alive.

6. Did you notice the "Former US Senator (D-Florida)"?
Had you ever heard of "Richard B. Stone"? I sure had not. He must be a "Democrat" in the mold of Zel Miller (D, Georgia).

4. Considering
That Americans found Statues of Saddam Hussein to be an obscenity considering his abysmmal record of human rights abuses, and his overall dictatorship....let us not forget for one moment that it was RONALD REAGAN WHO SOLD SADDAM THE BIOLOGICAL INGREDIENTS TO MAKE HIS BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS AND WMD. IT WAS RONALD REAGAN WHO SENT DONALD RUMSFLED OVER TO IRAQ. IT WAS RONALD REAGAN WHO SOLD IRAN WEAPONS AGAINST IRAQ AND GAVE THE MONEY TO TERRORIST GROUPS IN LATIN AMERICA. IT WAS RONALD REAGANS POLICIES THAT DIRECTLY RESULTED IN THE DEATHS OF OVER 50 000 NICARAGUANS BECAUSE OF THIS. I would seriously take that into account before renaming anything or putting up any sort of memorial in his name.

9. Darn it! I just flushed a big piece of Reagan's legacy down the terlit...
Fortunately, the plumbing got plugged and the legacy is once again circling the bowl slowly for everyone to see.

You can spray all the air freshener you want at it but it still smells really bad.

12. Just think of the enormity of the "Reagan Legacy Project"--a full SEVEN YEARS
before the man died, a group including the GOP chairman started planning monuments to his memory. They got a major airport re-named within a year or so. And then when he actually died they launched a media campaign years in the planning.

And they have the "chutzpah" to call themselves nonpartisan and presumably to give out tax deduction vouchers for money they've raised!

Democrats just don't think this way. Hilary nailed it when she spoke about a vast right-wing conspiracy.

11. Why don't they just cut to the chase and rename the whole country?
The United States of Reagan, with the capital called Reagan City.

Actually, I think a giant garbage disposal, sewage treatment plant, or carnivorous flower (think Audrey in "Little Shop of Horrors") should be named after Reagan. And that's it.
