Do you still call that D.C. airport "National?"
Every time my mouth tries to form the word "Reagan," for some strange reason, "National" comes out.

Odd. Wonder why?

17. AND --- I Still Like This Name
I have always liked the name Idylwild. I still like calling that airport by that name. Why change to honor someone who never lived in NYC? I remember, after the death of JFK, al the arguments about why Idylwild should not be re-named.

I always thought they were kind of silly.

Most reservation people I talk with call it "national" too.

When someone calls it "Reagan" I ALWAYS say: "What? Oh, you mean 'National'."

4. I think Jim Moran slugged some Republican Congresscritter
because he was so mad they used the taxpayers dollars to change the signs on the metro and road.

It will always be Washington National Airport to me.

7. Absolutely. And...
... I still refer to Cincinnati's "Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway" as "Cross-County Highway," as it was known for thirty years.

:grr:

12. Hell, we didn't even let them get away with Scoop Jackson's name here!
And he was (supposedly) a Democrat!

They tried to rename Sea-Tac airport after him soon after he died. I don't even think it lasted 2 weeks.

15. I Call The DC Airports These Names
Dulles International -- I call this airport "The DC Airport in Loudon County". I absolutely refuse -- refuse, I tell you! -- to utter the name of John Foster Dulles. He was a Cold Warrior extraordinaire, and his name should not grace the name of any airport. I even call the "Dulles Access Road" and the "Dulles Toll Road" the "Road to the DC Airport in Loundon County" and the "Toll Road to the DC Airport in Loudon County", respectively.

Baltimore-Washington Airport -- I still call this airport "Friendship Airport". It is 8 miles from Downtown Baltimore, for heaven's sake, so why should the name "Washington" be a part of it at all. And if the Name of Washington is going to be a part of it, then it should bne the first name, because Washington is a much more important city thatn Baltimore. But since I value friendship between Baltimore and Washington so much, I just prefer to call this airport by the name it was called up until sometime in the early '70's -- Friendship Airport.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport -- I call this airport "The Most Dangerous Airport on the East Coast -- the one that exists only because the boobs in Congress find it so convenient" That's a mouthful, and you should see the looks I get, but it is not the "National" Airport -- how presumtuous is THAT?
