But whatever else you can say about him, Reagan was no Hitler; that's an absolutely ridiculous comparison. And yes, Nancy does deserve compassion and pity. They were married for 52 years, and this has to be hell for her. Her pain and grief are very obvious.

All in all, it was very moving sendoff to a head of state.
It's heartbreaking to see Nancy there. She reminds me somewhat
of Jackie
Kennedy during the same situation... very dignified and
strong-looking. Hard to believe she's in her 80s... she
doesn't look
any different than a decade ago, to be honest. More power to
her.

One critical note...Sen. Stevens should have had his sorry ass
kicked
right off the podium for his "eulogy". His remarks
were nothing but
thinly veiled stabs, and embarassingly inappropriate for a
funeral.
Even Nixon's former aides and O'Reilly took notice of this!

In a time when a lot of people (including Reagan's own son)
are
criticizing people who are attempting to exploit Reagan's
death for
political purposes, Stevens just gave some of us some powerful
ammunition. What a complete jerk. I expected this sort of
political
posturing from Cheney, and have just learned not to judge
someone too
harshly, even if i dislike the man... Dick's remarks happened
to be
the most personal and impressive of the entire bunch. Who
would have thought?!

I don't care how long she was married to that third-rate actor or that she had to stand by and watch as our tax dollars were spent to give that living corpse the best medical care available (available to those with money, that is). I don't care what she went through, what she's going through, what she might go through in the future - in short, I care as much for her as she does for anyone other than herself.
