My 9-year-old's essay "Why George Bush Should Go" gets an A+!!
A+ Excellent Arguments!

"Why George Bush Should Go

George W. Bush should not be re-elected and I have 3 potent reasons to support this statement.

For my first reason, Bush had America involved in a strife <aka "war"--still working on the thesaurus skills> for no reason. There was no evidence of nuclear weapons in Iraq. Also, it was none of our business he was a mean man. This war resulted in lots of people being killed. Plus, he knew it would be very hard to regulate the after events of the war. There was no reason to start a war.

Second, the war he started put the government in debt. The government then started selling bonds to pay off the costs the war created. Then Bush lowered taxes, making it so that later in kids lives the kids would have to pay huge taxes to pay off for the bonds the government sold. Bush had just then made a bad thing worse.

Finally, there is a known colloquy (:-)?) between Bush and a surrogate from Saudi Arabia. The surrogate from Saudi Arabia said that his country would lower oil, which is made into gasoline, prices in 2004 to make the economy look good in 2004 so George W. Bush would win re-election. He was faking a good economy that is anything but good.

These reasons give me the strong belief that George W. Bush should not be re-elected."

Now where did he go and learn all those crazy things anyway? :P

4. Your son can argue better than many that I have seen...
I was very political at that age as well, but I couldn't form arguments nearly that well.

14. 9? He's awfully good with a thesaurus
Potent? Strife? Colloquy? Surrogate?

I hope he's as handy with a dictionary as he is with a thesaurus.
