And what would you do to reassure your supporters? Would you invite Bush to your District to campaign with you? Would you go along with the Democrats on asking the WH to turnover the memos? Would you try to spend more time in your District? :)

1. I don't see how they can justify their support of torture
the American people know now it is open season on American soldiers. Unbelievably despicable.

I'm a resident of Kentucky's 2nd Congressional District, whose representative is currently Ron Lewis (R) - a former minister and Christian bookstore owner. The Democratic winner of the primary in May is Adam Smith, 26, a recent University of Louisville graduate with a degree in political science; he works on the family farm.

Quoting Smith from the Louisville paper: 'I'm pretty dang liberal, and I think people have been waiting for that.'

http://www.courier-journal.com/localnews/2004/05/19ky/A2-conother-0511-elec-5284.html

Unfortunately for Smith, he's going up against a 5-term incumbent in the buckle of the bible belt. Lewis has a formidable war chest of campaign money, too.

I'm really disappointed that the Democrats haven't fielded a successful candidate since Lewis won a special election following Bill Natcher's death in 1994. Natcher was an extraordinary representative; he never missed a roll call or vote for over 40 years in Congress. You may recall his last vote, being wheeled into Congress on a gurney straight from the hospital - where he returned after voting.

While we're on the subject of Kentucky politics...when are we going to rid ourselves - and the nation - of those fascists Bunning and McConnell?

8. It depends on what kind
of a Republican I am, right wing or moderate, and what kind of competition exactly I face in either the primary or general election. And what office I hold. And where.

Here in Kansas, where we have three viable political parties -- right wing Republicans, moderate Republicans, and Democrats -- all of a sudden in the last two days of filing (the deadline was noon today) all kinds of right wingers crawled out of the woodwork to file for state offices, mainly the state house and senate. So now all the incumbent, mostly moderate, Republicans will face primaries, which may benefit the many Democrat challengers (such as myself).

It really depends on a lot of factors.

9. What me worry?

If I were a puke incombent, I'd have transferred the bulk of my funds to a secret offshore account, and arranged for citizenship someplace with no extradition treaties, a long time ago. They may be evil, but they're not stupid.
