Saddams Gun: which story is it???

In Bush's press conference he was asked if he was going to keep the gun. He told the story of how it was given to him and how it was found "in Saddam's lap" along with other weapons.

Which is it? Was it in Saddam's lap or was he waving it around announcing he was the leader of Iraq. Bush should get the story straight before he uses it again. Right down to where the KURDS captured Saddam and held him for two weeks while they "negotiated" with the U.S. to turn him over.

Saddam's gun on display at White House
A handgun that Saddam Hussein was clutching when US forces captured him in a hole in Iraq last December is now kept by President George W Bush at the White House, a spokesman has confirmed.

Military officials had it mounted after it was seized from Saddam near his hometown of Tikrit last year and soldiers involved in the capture gave it to Mr Bush, according to Time magazine, which first disclosed the gun's location.

The magazine quoted a visitor who had been shown the gun, which is kept in a small study off the Oval Office where Mr Bush displays memorabilia.

It is the same room where former President Bill Clinton had some of his encounters with former intern Monica Lewinsky.

White House spokesman Jim Morrell said: "The President was proud of the performance and bravery of our armed forces and was honoured to receive it on behalf of the troops involved in the operation."

3. Call me crazy, but I prefer a Clenis than a gun that cost so many
lives and so much money to get.

6. Saddam's pistol is not an AW, but it does violate DC gun laws.
Bush is not licensed in the District of Columbia.

5. I'm so confused
BUSH: What she is referring to is members of a Delta team came to see me in the Oval Office and brought with me — these were the people that Saddam Hussein, the dictator of Iraq, hiding in a hole.

snip

Saddam Hussein, if you — we had seven people come to my office — perhaps the foreign press didn't receive this story.

Seven people came with a story, they had their hands cut off, because the Iraqi currency had devalued, and Saddam Hussein needed somebody to blame, so he blamed small merchants. And their hands were chopped off, their right hand.

snip

I remember the guy signing "God bless America" with his new hand in the Oval Office.

So this is the person — so, needless to say, our people were thrilled to have captured him.

And in his lap were several weapons. One of them was a pistol, and they brought it to me. It's now the property of the U.S. government.

And I am grateful for their bravery. I'm also grateful that that part of the mission was accomplished for the good of the Iraqi people.

***********sorry I'm still confused....was it the delta team that gave it to him or one of the guys who had his hand cut off......
