11. Bush has real issues with death.
I read that he never got over his sister's death and that he is always like that. Just another manifestation of his strange mental state. Sometimes I almost pity him because he needs professional help and can't ask for it.
He's one sick puppy.

His parents also allegedly acted in somewhat bizarre fashion, when she died.

There was a good article in The Guardian about it.

It's been a hell of a day but I've been lol'ing. Plus, I've been laughing out loud, too. Sometimes just reading DU posts is theraputic. Especially when it pokes fun at Shrubby. He's not really the leader of the free world, is he? If he is, it shouldn't be free. Frankly, my dear, it isn't. But I do give a damn, Scarlet and Gray.

26. As soon as W left the Rotunda, my phone rang...
and it was one of my daughters, who was also watching CNN, calling from across the continent, laughing -- and we both just laughed, wordlessly, for two or three minutes straight. I don't even know what was so funny, nor did she. We did recall the contrast in manner and stature when Gorbachev appeared earlier today, not to speak of Mrs. Thatcher last night (after three strokes!). My daughter always says W reminds her of the kid who's called on in class, and hasn't done the reading --

54. Excellent Comparison! He "Reads" Speeches As If It Were A Book Report...
Edited on Fri Jun-11-04 03:32 PM by arwalden
written by his mother the night before the book report was due... and as though it's the first time he had ever bothered to even take a look at the work someone else did FOR him. He's just that lazy and ill-informed and un-interested.

The way he approached the casket and the way he wiped off the flag reminded me of (again) a nervous child whose mother had just instructed and scolded him to "Georgie, you go up there and bow your head and then touch the flag to show respect. What will people think? Do as you're told, now." -- "Aw, gee, ma... do I hafta?" -- "Yes, now git!"

His actions were nothing more than those one would expect from a little boy who had been shamed by his mommy into going through the mechanical (and emotionless) actions... doing literally what his mommy had told him to do... but resenting it and doing it QUICKLY so as to minimize the duration of the punishment and having to comply with authority.

Then, when he's completed his perfunctory act... he swiftly turns around and glances up to his mommy in the distance with a smirk on his face that seems to convey the man-child message of "There! Happy now! I did it! Just like you said! I didn't mean it, but I did it because you told me to!"

Folks, the man is an idiot man-child.

50. WHY was he smoothing out the flag on the coffin?!
He didn't touch the flag on Reagan's coffin in a loving or introspective manner as Gorby did.

He can't even PRETEND to be reflective. At least Reagan could act.

Rove must've told him to touch the flag on Reagan's coffin, so Dipshit runs both hands over it and smooths out a wrinkle or something.

Surreal.

It is so disgusting--these two phonies are very poor actors. It is so disgusting--they, the both of them are whores. There are at least a dozen of these disgusting photos on the Yahoo slideshow

It is simply and plainly in bad taste and is disgusting.

What the hell does he think he is doing and what the hell is she thinking as he does this mumbo jumbo on the casket. The fool was trying to upstage Nancy--ugh, these two are really despicable, trailer trash.

They are shallow and they are cheap-they are only concerned about themself and Laura looks like a hag on her way to hagdom only because she is so compliant and without any substance at all-they are,the both of them, so stupid and lacking in grace that they consent to looking disgusting, thinking they are behaving "presidential"

They are disgusting.

47. I am now completely convinced that shrub is a wash
he will NOT be reselected in November, barring some nasty dirty voting tricks.

Why do I say that? Well. Here we have the state funeral of an ex-President who served two terms. We have the current.....ahem.....presidentorsomething at his casket.

And his performance is so freaking WEIRD, so SURREAL, so....otherworldly, that people are CALLING EACH OTHER AND JUST LAUGHING.

Think about that for a second.

I used to get angry every time I saw him. Now I simply laugh. I laugh and laugh and laugh. He has become a caricature of himself, if he ever was himself.

And I mean, I had REPUBLICAN friends calling me and snickering into the phone and asking me what the hell that was about.

He is so going down.

DISCLAIMER: This does not mean in any way I slack up on working to get Kerry and other Dems elected. Thatisall.

I saw a brutha on TV going to see Ol' rotting Ronnie. The reporter asked him why he had come. He said well I studied poli sci as an undergrad, and he was my professor's favorite president.

That is so rich, I can't explain. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. So instead of saying he hates the guy, he mentions that he knew someone who liked him. That is classic. I even learned something on that one. The reporter didn't appear to catch his point. But it was great.
