Does Denise Majette Have a Chance in Georgia?
She's running for the Senate and the conventional wisdom is that she'll get trounced in the GE by whoever the Republican candidate. Incidentally, there's also speculation that if Conservative African-American CEO Herman Caines wins the GOP nomination (a longshot, but not out of the realm of possibility) the country could have its first Senate race featuring two African-Americans.

Is there any chance that Majette could win?

1. Well, if she draws R crossover voters like she did in the primary
against McKinney, I'd say she's a shoo-in.

I am not, however, holding my breath waiting for this to happen.

2. I don't see it happening
She is a very liberal congresswoman and I just don't see how Georgia could elect such a liberal to the Senate. The state is simply too conservative. No matter who the republican nominee is that nominee will win. Also, Majette may not even win the democratic primary. Cliff Oxford is running against her and some national democrats prefer him because they view him as a stronger statewide candidate.

not even close.

but still, i'd be shocked if she won... a democrat, much less a black female, will have a hardtime winning in this redneck state.

4. 50% odds she won't even win primary
It's a shame, though, she would have held her seat in the 4th with no problem.
