"The Hunting of the President" in theaters soon....
THIS is my first post.
Please don't club me like a baby seal.
I'm here to stay.
I'm pissed.
I need a place to vent, and this looks like a good place to share ideas.

Debra Norville had Bill Clinton's friend, Harry Thomason on this evening. Seems he has a new movie coming out.

Seems he has a new movie coming out that chronicles the vicious attack by the media and it's duplicitous partner in crime, our friends, the right. Seems he has a movie coming out that will lay bare the "well executed" plan to impeach the President.

Seems he has been able to document in this movie how the right plotted to get the President under oath, ask him enough questions until they caught him on the right one, and then...
Well you know.

Thomason was an engaging interview.
While he didn't blame the right directly, he did do a number on cable news and the "bottom feeders" that are prevalent in all of those so called "newsrooms".

He spoke about how the cable networks ignore things like "confirmed sources" and how they cut corners, and release anything that may get ratings. Then their corporate competitors see they have a scoop and the feeding frenzy is on.

It's all about the stock price.
News for profit.

Clinton's book he predicts, will break "all modern records" and the tone of the book is reminiscent of Mark Twain.

With "Fahrenheit 9/11" and this movie coming out.
Bubba's new book that could blow up, and a little momentum...
I think it's going to be a very interesting summer.

Anything can happen. And it probably will.

Where the hell is Hunter S. Thompson when you need him?

3. Us DUers don't treat newbies like clubing baby seals.
Only republicans are dirty enough to do something like that. In fact, a republican lurker had an announcer fired from his job today. The bastard called the station and ratted on him.

Did he criticize Shrub, or say something positive about Clinton?

He posted here that he was reluctant to play music for the purpose of honoring Reagan, as his manager wanted him to, and the manager saw the post. This was before his first day on the air.

5. Hunter S. Thompson said he thinks Bush is WORSE than Nixon!
and this about nixons departure...

If the right people had been in charge of Nixon's funeral, his casket would have been launched into one of those open-sewage canals that empty into the ocean just south of Los Angeles. He was a swine of a man and a jabbering dupe of a president. Nixon was so crooked that he needed servants to help him screw his pants on every morning. Even his funeral was illegal. He was queer in the deepest way. His body should have been burned in a trash bin.

These are harsh words for a man only recently canonized by President Clinton and my old friend George McGovern -- but I have written worse things about Nixon, many times, and the record will show that I kicked him repeatedly long before he went down. I beat him like a mad dog with mange every time I got a chance, and I am proud of it. He was scum.

8. Welcome to DU!
:hi:

I think the media loved exposing the Clinton affair because they just love sex & sex sells.

The Republicans were determined to find a way to pin something on Clinton. And then Dubya came along talking about changing the tone in Washington after his buddies created the tone in the first place. Really pisses me off!

14. Terrific post...baby seal...no. Look to Joe Conason and Gene Lyons.
If you haven't read the book - do it - I'm sure the movie will mean even more if you read it. This book is known for not having been challenged for inaccuracies. It is objectively and carefully written and spills it all out for our salvation of knowledge.

By the way - find Gene Lyons latest column on Ronald Reagan - it is fantastic.

Joe Conason is on the Al Franken radio show about once a week for nearly an hour (sometimes more). Get the news with his insight. Sometimes he says things on the show that have already been covered at DU, but I love all those people he is getting through to because the inability to read everything.
