I'm really getting tired of all the president under the microscope posts
I am all for exposing this lying sack o' shit administration and keeping controversy going over real matters of substance as they relate to the highjacking of public interests destruction of the foundations of our country.

But to see one post after another saying, "Did you SEE the WAY Bush looked at Chirac in that photo?...it's like he is channeling Satan's spirit, oh my!"

or "Bush said he wants to bring about peace in the mideast...the BASTARD! He acts like he has the power to do this on his own...like he's channeling God or something."

I think you get the idea. I mean, the insults about personal appearance, Laura's smile, the kids' pursuits...it's so Laura Ingram and petty and distracts from all the real issues out there.

We've got bigger fish to fry than nitpicking his foibles and nonstop tracking of his every move with an eye to the critical.

Let's get updates on his actual lawbreaking. I want him dead to rights in a secret memo asking for the torture of all guys named Saddam or something. I want to find out Cheney was getting kickbacks from big oil. I want these guys out with the real hard news about their lawlessness--not base gossip that evaporates tomorrow and is nothing.

Thank you. end of rant.

1. You're right!
Those kinds of threads sound more like freeperville.

2. There's so much to nail these guys on...
Why do we need freeperville style threads. One hundred percent behind you on this one.

3. Oh, let people have their fun.

It doesn't hurt anybody.

4. Agreed
I try to stay away from attacks on appearance and shit. Like the other posters said, there's so much other stuff, legitimate stuff, we should have endless material.

5. I hear you, but...
it's really interesting to some of us. I don't actually see too much of him on TV. Weak stomach. I can't take gory movies either. I think it's related. But I do find changes in affect interesting and sometimes revealing so I tend to read the threads where there's a consensus on something like that. Also, there's so much to pick on. He's really embarassing out there in public.

6. Bush probably appreciates
the fact that you're reading his body language. :bounce:

7. I do agree. He's abominable. I've always admired great orators
and that may be part of what Reagan had over me as a youn'un. I could dig his way of inspiring confidence even though I suspiciously assumed it was all a facade.

But we do get over the top on this site. Not trying to police anyone. Just stating my opinion about what kind of threads really get me going.

The ones where the latest CIA leak comes out or some former official spills the beans on the whole tawdry mess....those I love.

Falling off a bike and subsequent excuses...great for the comedy effect.

But the over analyzing of every word and gesture....my verdict: petty

14. As a psych major who is into body language I also find it interesting.
It tells you a lot about people. It tells you what people are really feeling. People very often say one thing but really think another.

8. Swell...I'm all for it. Problem is we've been posting the evidence...
...link after link after exhaustingly searched link. We all exclaim in awe or disgust and then...nothing. Is it our fault? I doubt it. I wrote letters to the editor of my paper when they'd still let me. I write to my representatives, and get form letters back about schools getting painted, and everything's peachy, and the preznit's looking into it and if an investigation's called for yada yada yada. Try suggesting bush*'s impeachment to a Texas senator, and you'll see what I mean.
All of which leaves me feeling helpless, besieged, and powerless.
Many folks from other lands who feel like that become terrorists. I choose instead to say bush* is a f**king moron because I have freedom of speech still left to me and I intend to use it until they jail me for it...and Pickles can kiss my ass.

10. Well said.......
Let people vent anyway they want because writing or calling the adults "in charge" is extremely frustrating and makes you feel like you're wasting your time. If you write or call, the next couple of days you get something from them asking for money. I have contributed all I'm going to contribute - I have given $500 to Kerry and every couple of days I get email/mail requesting more. It's all about money and that is really what's wrong with our country - a poor candidate with real ideas for change for the better doesn't stand a chance in Hell of winning the office of dog catcher unless he can get every person in his town to give him money. Sad, but true.

9. I get what you mean. I tried bringing up subjects
a while back ... serious subjects on domestic concerns as well as others. There was soooooooo much tension in DU over all the filth and corruption in this administration. We went to marches. We did house parties. We donated. We wrote letters to editors and media and representatives. Finally, I fell apart. My nerves couldn't take it any more. I had to back off. Was outta here for several weeks. Just gardening and family for awhile.

Nothing seemed to change at the time, though it looks as though change IS finally taking place. I returned here in the last couple days--just in time for RR funeral and, for me, the levity is a blessing.

I'm not so stupid as to be blind to the facts; I just really enjoy a good parody now and then. Besides, I'm more "intuitive" than anything else. I can get a goodly bit from ones' demeanor and by what they say--body language and all that. It helps to connect the dots between facts and acts for me.
...................Respectfully.............SB

11. We definitely must gauge our assaults.
It's tough countering the RW campaign while maintaining our sense of respect, integrity and dignity. But, we can do it. We can be powerful in many different ways.

12. As Tom Cruise said in RIsky Business....
Sometimes ya just gotta say "what the fuck."

Meaning, I think we are all so disgusted that we're like a bunch of teapots. We reach boiling point and we can't help but start screeching.

13. I understand, I got tired hearing about how often Hillary
...changed her hairstyle in the 90s.

But it was 'news worthy' of the RW press for some strange reason.
