Did you hear about the lotion to counteract chemical, biological attack
effects being already in the hands of the Pentagon? This is something the population could have access to but apparently the Pentagon does not want to release it. Heard it on AAR "Morning Sedition". The speculate this is because they want to PRIVATIZE IT: probably give it to a corporation for free so that he corporation can MAKE MONEY by selling it to the public.
They said that it is already available to the general population in other countries. Anybody in DU heard about this?

4. Is it more effective than plastic and duct tape?
I like the idea, though: in response to terrorist threats take off your clothes and rub down your neighbor!

6. Please deass your head
Edited on Fri Jun-11-04 07:18 AM by mastein
Please, I ask you kindly to please pull your head out of your ass. I have been working in ER with several Fed. agencies as a contractor for several years now (back to about 2000), and everything I have seen especially related to CBRN weapons is that:

1) there is NO "MAGIC BULLET" cream, lotion, gel, or any other sort of skin coverage. Most responders will either use moon suits or firefighter turnout gear.

2) Skin protection represents a rather small portion of exposure (with the exception of some blister agents) for chemical or biological agents. The real problem, like most chemicals is with inhalation.

3) The standard for decontamination is soap or at the strongest bleach. Decon. for patients has to be very fast so that they can get into hospital and be treated for their symptoms. Responders must have plenty on hand especially in larger metro areas where an attack is likely to occur. Also, Human skin doesn't like many chemicals and it reacts badly to them.

If you have additional questions, comments etc. on emergency response don't hesitate to post them to me directly.

PS Butt paste works real well on diaper rash. My son uses it often.

8. Wow..."deass"
The reason this lotion is cool is because you could always have it on you, ready to use quickly (as you mention, that's the important part). It's portable.

You might not always have soap and water available when you happen to get a blister/nerve agent on your skin, but this little foil-packed lotion-soaked sponge could be with you at all times. You might not be near a decontamination station. It's better than nothing.

OK, I'm gonna go put my head back up my ass again.

9. I'll de-ass my head long enough to post the link

the original post says nothing about a lotion that covers the skin for protection against...a chemical attack, in this case

but as an antidote to...something that neutralizes the effect of...a chemical attack.
