So why not honor Reagan and Fund fund Alzheimer's research ?
So why not honor Reagan and Fund fund Alzheimer's research - as Daschle suggested - rather that with naming bills?

Is the GOP so lacking in self-esteem that they have to ignore Reagan's wishes that no monuments of honors be given him until 25 years after his death (a wish Reagan expressed to William Niskanen, who served on Reagan's Council of Economic Advisors)? Do we discus putting his name on the Pentagon (the first naming of Pentagon after President Eisenhower was rejected because it was felt that the building stands as "a symbol of the bipartisanship" that is needed in defending the country) or the dime or 50 cent piece (proposed by Rep. Jeff Miller-R-Fla.) or the $10 bill (a proposal by Sen. Mitch McConnell -R-Ky.), or the $20 bill (proposed by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher -R-Huntington Beach), or perhaps by removing from the Capitol's Statuary Hall the Statue of Thomas Starr King, a minister now so honored for his role in keeping California within the Union during the Civil War, and replacing it with one of the former governor.

We already honor Reagan's 1981 union busting of the air traffic controllers by the 1998 renaming of National Airport - and with Subway signs to the airport that feature Reagan's name after Congress so ordered. The small government Reagan also has his name on the biggest government building in Washington, the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Oh I forgot - the GOP really are little folks that get their kicks honoring a fellow that screwed the poor. I guess the honor Reagan with something other than funding Alzheimer's research is a topic that must be discussed next week.

2. Good Christ. Why not fund Alzheimer's research because
it's the right thing to do?

For that matter, why not FULLY fund stem-cell research and back off their bullshit claims that it's a matter of morality? Do you know Laura Bush had the gall to say to Nancy Reagan (whether to her face or through the media, I don't know; I suspect the latter) that she's "sorry," she just can't support SCR?

GOP: Jesus, people. Pull your fucking heads out. Use your brains. God did not give them to you so you could think up ways to do what you think he wants you to. He gave them to you so you could THINK.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
