Why is Ave Maria being sung at Reagan Funeral? Babs only one in White!
Edited on Fri Jun-11-04 10:57 AM by KoKo01
I decided to watch the funeral services since I'd boycotted the rest all week. But, it's very odd for Ave Maria to be sung since Reagan wasn't Catholic. Was Nancy? Every verse is being sung!

And, the "Dragon Lady" is the only one in "off white" which means she stands out in the photographs. Was this a slap at Nancy over the "red dress" incident. It certainly looks like she's making a statement since
Rosalyn Carter and Betty Ford, and Nancy and everyone else is wearing black.

The Chimp is definitely the Dragon Lady's true son. The Bush's have no class. It's like a slap in the face to Nancy for her to do that. Much as I disliked Reagan I would have shown respect by dressing appropriately.

25. Yes, I'd bet hard money that she did it to attract attention to herself.

It's a visual trick to make yourself stand out in a crowd, especially in a sea of black and other dark, muted colors. I'd take that one to the bank.

I posted this in another thread, but it bears repeating. Ol' bar took a cue from Nancy, alright. VERY tasteless and tactless in this case, though. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU, bar. YOU BITCH. RHYMES WITH WITCH. BUT I'LL SAY IT ANYWAY!

Nancy herself did that, at one of the conventions, and I think, at one of the State of the Union addresses. It was much whispered during the Reagan era that Nancy's social secretary-types sent word around about what she'd be wearing to such-and-such an event, so that none of the other women would wear something conflicting or distracting, or heaven forbid - the same thing. Nancy used her Hollywood background to help stage things effectively. She was VERY savvy about this. And she made sure, as First Lady, that she stood out. VERY often it was because she was wearing either glaringly-bright red (an attention-getting color anyway) or white. And if you ever look at some of those old photos of such events, you'll note that everybody else around her, especially the women, were dressed in far more subtle tones and styles - so she would stand out.

When I worked at NBC, lots of our techies (the engineers, camera guys and soundmen, and field producers) would spend a LOT of time shuttling back and forth from Burbank to Santa Barbara, since Reagan spent so much of his presidency taking his long series of California vacations. And some of 'em would come back with stories about this, from having gotten close to a number of the White House staffers and accessory people, or the old Hollywood contingent that was very much a part of this scene.

So looks like the old bag barbara took a cue from that. Typical classless lowlife. That she would want to steal some attention from the grieving widow by wearing something bright and attention-getting. I guess she liked the effect it had when she test-drove it at Reagan's coffin in the Capitol building. WHAT a bitch. What a QUEEN BITCH. Just lowlife. It's NOT about YOU, bar. Hello?

Frankly, I was surprised that her snotnosed boy wasn't chewing gum during the funeral.

And YES, if Hillary had been wearing something white or light-colored, there'd be people assembling a firing squad for her even as we speak. The ONLY people who were supposed to be wearing white, or were appropriately dressed in white, were any priests or choir people, AND the Navy guys in the honor guard and among the pallbearers (and I guess it's the Marines with the white trousers.

2. Ave Maria
I'm sure our honest press pointed out that Reagan oversaw the murder of eight Roman Catholic nuns in Central America and that there was a certain sick irony over singing a Roman Catholic hymn at his funeral service.

4. Um, Ave Maria
...is not the sole properties of RCs. For most non-RC Christians it's just a pretty religious song. Which setting are they doing?

6. Maybe Babs is a closet Buddhist!
They believe that white is for mourning, because the color reminds one of a palid corpse. Favorite color for weedings is red!

better. Could not help it, I am going looney. Sorry

"For Those In Peril On The Sea?" It was just a few bars I heard on the news, but it was definitely that tune. Are there different words in the US?
