Glimmers of light in the United States Of Reagan
Two interesting polls in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in the last few days.

The first was about putting President Reagan's face on the $10 - 75% of those responding said "no".

The second was about the extent of television coverage this week - too much, too little or Condition Goldilocks. 69% said that coverage had been excessive.

Yeah, I know, "this nonscientific poll is for entertainment purposes only" etc., but still good to see.

1. The CNN silly poll
How many are watching the funeral? About 75% said no, but presumably those enthralled watching the funeral would not be doing a poll anyway.

Forget about unfair polls. just get rid of the dumb ones.

On the other hand that is probably accurate by accident. The fact a lot of anti-Reagan things have surfaced in the mainstream shows there is no cause to fear a massive public backlash.

A little common sense and restraint would have preserved some measured dignity, but by going for the touchdown they dropped the hail mary. No one gets too worked up about a merciful death for someone long out of the public eye. Then trying to exploit a non-event is just pathetic and annoying.

If the Right did not know that you can only keep a balloon pumped up so long, they are experiencing it now(probably not recognizing it). They themselves probably have a lot of their own only missing a prime puppet instead of admiring the man.

And then Bush speaks. The grave yawns for the right wing regression.

They have blown the image of Reagan to bloated unreality and then to tatters. Back to earth.
