Sandra Day O'Connor quotes Kerry's ancestor @ funeral?
I didn't see it, but someone posted here @ DU that Sandra Day O'Connor quoted from "City on the Hill" by John Winthrop.

Do you think she knows that John Winthrop, Governor of Massachusetts and minister, was John Kerry's ANCESTOR!

How funny is that, folks?

Here are some of John Kerry's ancestors that I picked up from an ancestor website for John Kerry:
John Winthrop, b. Boston, Mass., 26 Aug. 1681, d. Sydenham, Kent, 1 Aug. 1747
m. Roxbury, Mass., 6 Dec. 1706

Wait Still Winthrop, b. Boston, Mass., 27 Feb. 1642, d. Boston, Mass., 7 Nov. 1717
m. ... (bef. 18 Feb. 1678)

John Winthrop, b. Groton Manor, co. Suffolk, 12 Feb. 1606, d. Groton, Conn., 5 Apr. 1676
m. St. Matthew, Friday Street, London, 6 July 1635

Thomas Dudley, Governor of Massachusetts, b. ... , to New England 1630, d. ...
m. Roxbury, Mass., 14 Apr. 1644

JOHN WINTHROP, Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony, b. Edwardston, co. Suffolk, 12 Jan. 1587/8, d. Boston, Mass., 26 March 1649 THIS IS THE ONE WHO WROTE THE FAMOUS "CITY ON THE HILL."

Too funny. Too funny.
m. Great Stambridge, co. Essex, 16 March 1605

1. RR chose it
RR chose that quote back in the 80s and asked SDO to read it at his funeral. It's still kind of funny, though.

2. How ironic is that? A good omen, maybe?
