15. Don't you see I wrote ATROCIOUS
That's what I feel about. Sure, a war is cruel. But still, there are rules, at least there's the Geneva Convention. We mustn't forget why we officially conquered Irag: freedom, peace, liberty, democracy and so on. Unfortunately, in these videos we see the tip of the iceberg of how the US executive force behaves down there. I don't think many soldiers are aware even why they fight. If so, they wouldn't treat the Iragi people the way you just saw. Link these videos to the prison abuse scandal and you get closer to the TRUTH!

19. The military blows up things and kills people
-it's what they do- which is why the military should only be used in the gravest of circumstances - which doesn't describe Iraq.

Stuff like this doesn't make me angry at the military - the military is only a tool. It makes me angry at the persons who decided to use the tool for the wrong job.

----

The Geneva Convention ain't the Marquis of Queensbury Rules - I don't see anything in those videos that's a violation. The "helicopter" video has been discussed ad nauseam here on DU, get yourself a star and you can do a search on it. A lot of different opinions...

----

I don't think there's the kind of relationship between the prison abuse scandal and what is shown in these videos. These videos show what war is really about - horrifying enough, but not that much out of the ordinary. The prison abuse scandal is on a different order altogether, at least for the US military. This goes all the way to the White House, and Bush and his cohorts deserve the worse for it.

----

ps - another poster upthread says that killing a wounded enemy is a violation of the Geneva Convention - that's just not true. It's common practice by all sides in all wars to keep shooting at an exposed enemy until they're dead. That's just the way it is.

In fact - if an enemy is caught engaging in military action without a uniform on he/she can be summarily shot. No rules apply.

War really sucks - that's why it should always be the absolute last resort.

16. Did they really have to go over it a second time?
I mean, after the first go-over I think the car was pretty much done. Ahhhhh winning the hearts and minds.

Gotta love OUR troops.
