making good points about the irrational times we live in vis-a-vis the war on terrorism being a rebirth of the Cold War as far as instilling fear in the public

Sam Seder made a good point in raising the question - what benefit was it to win the Cold War?...here, here Sam.

IMHO, the Pentagon and the MIC (military industrial complex) seen the end of the Cold War as a crisis that needed to be overcome by creating another enemy to justify the massive expenditures on military hardware, which comes at the expense of other programs that could otherwise help the American people.

1. One problem was, they tried but just couldn't spend enough fighting drugs.
