Did Bush Speak At Reagan's Funeral?
I thought he was to and I've missed it.

Did anyone else catch it and, if so, how did he do? I'm particularly interested to know if he politcized the speech.

1. He did.
Shoveling out the hubris for all he* was worth.

I didn't see much as I was thoroughly disgusted by the depravity, but I'm sure they all pulled the "vote for us" card...

I still think something eclipsing this will happen in late October.

2. Yeah he spoke earlier.
He seemed to be equating himself with Reagan by saying "He saw the evil in the world and he had the courage to call it by it's name." or something to that effect.

3. Sounded like a babbling moron
So what else is new?

Followed his dad, who actually seemed intelligent in comparison.

So not only does W have to compete with Reagan's legacy, he has to compete with his father's (limited) legacy.

5. Now what is true is that both father and son
are dyslexic. Being a fellow traveller in that sense
I know that it is not easy. But you would never
EVER, know it with dad. He does practice his lines.

I also think Junior thinks this makes him look "more
authentic" to the Murican People... which is a whole
different matter

4. He Tried to Draw a Parallel...
...between himself and the ex president - speaking of standing up to 'evil' and being as strong as the pillars in the church (stay the course)...I thought what a sad, pathetic, desperate man he is....

7. Tough act to follow...
Margret Thatcher and Brian Mulrooney spoke right before Bush I and Bush II. The two former were very eloquent speakers. Bush I broke down in the middle of his talk, but other than some personal anecdotes about Reagan, the latter two were not that inspiring in their speeches.

9. That surprises me.
I thought they could barely stand each other. Or is Poppy just catching a whiff of his own mortality?

17. Welcome to DU!
I saw the whole thing, and that was the first time I have seen Junior actually get thru a speech without a major F/U...

Margaret Thacher's rosy presentation of fiction was the best, however, untrue as it was, she painted a picture of Raygun that I only *wish* I could have really seen... it might have been an ideal world...

6. The gaul.
I'm not surprised. No matter what Reagan was or wasn't, he certainly didn't use religion as a ploy to implement his policies.

Fucking idiot that I am, I just got the damned joke. Uh, that should read "gall". LOL.

I'll refrain from editing the original so that others can enjoy the joke.

19. He was well rehearsed... even choked up right on 'cue'...
BTW, there *was* no gentleness and kindness for him to learn... maybe that's why he's such a heartless old prick...

10. I found a link to the speech.
But since it's off the Bush campaign site, it's probably been doctored. But they put it up there in record time, didn't they?

12. He literally rose above the occasion when he took to the raised pulpit.
All of the other speakers took to the lectern adjacent to the casket at sea level.

16. I caught a ten second snippet
of Junior doing his emotional "loving guy" schtick on the radio. I've been boycotting TV.

All the Kings horses
And all the Kings men
Will screw all the sheep
Inside of their pens
