4. Poor Nancy lost it when they gave her the flag huh?
I wondered how long her strength would hold out. This has to have been an exhausting ordeal for the old thing.

I never liked her as first lady, but it must have been a long week. Now she can go home and grieve in peace, until she comes out swinging for stem cell research (hopefully)

5. Nancy is not his mother.
I would think that Ron Jr. and Patti would be there comforting their mother when she sort of broke down, and Michael would defer to them on that. I would have.

Ron Jr. did step aside and Michael stood there beside Nancy for a little bit too.

6. how old was he when they adopted him?
if he was an infant, what a painful family dynamic that would show. Just because he isn't "blood" he isn't family? What does that tell any other adopted children in the world? How sad.

7. JANE WYMAN and Ronald Reagan adopted him.
Not Nancy.

That's what I was saying.

He is certainly Ronald Reagan's son, adopted or not.

But he is NOT Nancy's son, so that is why he deferred to Ron Jr. and Patti when Nancy broke down.

See how that works?

9. as someone who is not Nancy's son i thought they did fine
you have to remember that reagan was married to someone else and had two kids from that marriage. and that's where michael is from.

ron jr and patti were born later and to a different mother. they all have the same father but still grew up in different times and in different ways.

i thought michael did great in comforting nancy considering he isn't her son and he still has a mother.

i don't like michael reagan's politics but i don't know why people have to make such a big thing out of this. it seems totally normal to me.

13. Jane Wyman also gave birth to another daughter
named Christine, who died a few days after birth. I guess that's when they adopted Michael.

11. daddy's love
I don't think it takes a psychologist to figure out the origins of Michael's politics. From the distance between Michael and the other family members, it's quite obvious he's been the outsider (after all, he was adopted).

I'm sure his whole life he'd wanted his Daddy to love him just as much as he loved Ron, Jr., and Patty, so when they started having problems with their father, Michael decided that was his chance to win his father's love. "If I become the greatest promoter of my father's policies and his legacy, he's sure to love me more than Ron, Jr., or Patty."

His father's politics are his politics. It's both sad and pathetic.

15. Maybe a sister to Ronnie??

I wondered too..

I am just glad it's finally over.. A week is TOO LONG.. 4 days with JFK's funeral was too long, and this reagasm was UNENDING.. Too hard on everyone.. and not necessary either..

You realize too, that IF his papers are ever released, and we finally do get a glimpse at the "sludge" that will no doubt ooze to the surface, it will be "too embarrassing" to even report on.. How could the same media who choked back tears and gushed with adoration, DARE to report that he might not have been the saint they said he was..

That's why the papers MUST come out in a timely fashion.. they should have been released in Feb 2001.. Would his funeral have been as grandiose if we had gotten the details of the Iran Contra stuff and the other dirst goings on??
