Worm is turning
According to the LA Times more people believe today
it was a mistake going to war in Iraq.

Ah yes the Sheeple are WAKING UP.

(just heard on the Bernie Show)

1. I never believe the people are waking up.
They MIGHT vote * out of office in November. Maybe. It'll be close, if they do.

But waking up? Not hardly. They'll go on with their lives, business as usual. Iraq will be forgotten. Reagan worship will continue. * will be seen as a basically good man who made some mistakes while in office, much as Nixon was seen a few years after his resignation.

The instinct for ordinariness is a strong one.

3. You know why?
the repukes have taken over the message

So it is OUR turn to take over the language.

He who controls the message controls the agenda. Over the BW
show I just got to hear a lady repeating EVERY damn
talking point... of the RW... time we take over the
message.

That includes the real teaching of history and civic
values

6. Not just a cocaine user, but
a loser, a weakling, incompetent, ineffective, etc.

8. Never give a Republican an even break.
(Apologies to WC Fields.)

That's why I always refer to the "neo"Cons in my public conversations using particular terms and phrases . . . "Borrow and spend", "war deserter", "criminal drug addict", "above the law", "serial monogamist", "anti-constitutionalist"--and yes, even the dreaded "T" word: TRAITOR. . . . I throw every one of their arguments back in their faces. I always demand that people back up their statements with discoverable sources, rather than just idly allowing them to prattle their bullshit. And I do my best not to fall into the trap of reacting to "hot buttons" they inevitably try to push.

I also quickly and clearly point out when a Republican's argument is nothing more than a regurgitated talking point.

I don't expect to change "neo"Con minds, but I do believe in collateral awakening. We can make a difference. Still, I don't allow myself to become overconfident.

Living in the light is a difficult, often frustrating, sometimes dangerous thing to do. But I never let myself forget that that is what I am doing.

9. That is great. And don't forget the "fake" family values.
Most of the repukes are on their 2nd, 3rd, even 4th marriage. And they have the temerity to criticize Clinton. Go figure!

10. I tried to call attention to that during the impeachment.
No one seemed to care that everyone who was calling Clinton out was also an adulterer.

This is why I don't take a lot of comfort from the small signs that people are turning on *. Even though the polls said 70% of the people opposed Clinton's impeachment, we let the Republicans do it anyway--and then lasciviously devoured Ken Starr's pornography. (Just for the record, I did not read it.)

I fear the only thing that might take * down would be the revelation of some sexual infidelity. I do like pointing out, in that regard, that Rush said on his radio show that what happened in Abu Ghraib was "exactly what took place in Skull and Bones". I take a twisted sort of pleasure in asking Repubs if they think * enjoyed his "hazing".

2. It's too bad that thousands had to die in order for them to get conscious
S'pose they'll remember their new-found wisdom when the next war is proposed?

Sorry, I'm just waaay to upset with all the death and destruction to even celebrate the awakening.

5. and all it took was 800+ dead soldiers
the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians and a torture scandal that America will never recover from? I am absolutely DISGUSTED.

7. let's hope so
I have found that there seem to be four types of Republicans:

1) the ones who follow some sort of family tradition- possible swing

2) the greedy/bitter-with-the-world types- will only change if they realize * is as bad as we know he is

3) the truly wealthy who believe in a caste system-

4) the angry misinformed who are freaked out by 9/11-

I truly believe that if we make sure that the votes are actually counted, Kerry will win.

12. As I noted in another link ...
The GOP is a HUGE Pyramid scam. The disguises, rationalizations and defenses of the GOP has a similar ring to that of pyramid scams. Perpetrators (the GOP) claim they are uplifting people, setting them free, creating new opportunity, and teaching them a new and better way to live and prosper. As in all such abuses of the past, huge amounts of money are spread to peddle influence, stave off regulation, and maintain the false portrayal of legitimacy. Critics are vilified and threatened with lawsuits and prosecution as "anti-business" and "losers" and "traitors".

The element of the pyramid scheme that has the most in common with past abuses is its appeal to economic justification. Deceptive practices which take money from millions of unwitting people and enrich a small group of promoters and perpetrators are defended as "legitimate business," helping to build the economy, employ people, and provide economic opportunity.
http://www.pyramidschemealert.org/schemes/schemeindex.htm

Most repugs have dreams to be platinum and gold members, when all they will realize is that their platinum and gold charge cards have been charged to the limits to pay into the scam. Once they fall from grace and become one of the lower class, they blame the class and themselves for their fall, not the leaders. Wanna bees are dangerous and weak!

11. Stupidest motherfuckers on the planet.
I can't even list the all the things that were obvious proof of the fraudulent basis for the invasion. It stank from day one. It was fucking obvious. Everything from Powell's bullshit presentation at the UN, to Rumsfeld's "we know precisely where the WMD are, but we can't tell the UN inspectors", and a thousand other things. It all reeked.

But the corporate media kept shovelling it, and the American public kept eating it.

And you know- it's not just the fault of the media, either. The people in this country disgusted me on the lead-up to this invasion. They cheered and anticipated it like it was the fucking Super Bowl.

13. How ironic...
.. everyone thought the War was Bush's strength and all the Dems had was the bad economy to run on. Now the ground has shifted and Iraq is the albatross around George Bush's neck:

14. A day late and a dollar short, isn't it?
Would be nice if we could resurrect all those that have died because one man wanted to be called a wartime President.
