Another Friend of Bush Could Be Out of Office Soon
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 08:39 AM by rpannier
No, not Tony Blair. Silvio Berlusconi could be the next to go. His party is presently polling at between 19-24% of the vote and many politicos in Italy are saying the party will be lucky to break 20%. If this happens his coalition will collapse and he will be forced to call early parliamentary elections.
This is a man who has been indicted on corruption charges and is still awaiting more trials. Who has tried to change the laws to shield him from prosecution. Who has failed to deliver on most of his promises.
The funny thing is, these ethical lapses only seemed to wound him. His party's popularity took the biggest hit (a 5 point drop) after meeting with shrub and getting an endorsement from shrub.
Spain, now Italy, probably Poland and Blair in Britain. he's on a roll.

1. Give Credit to the Italian People's Sense of History
They remember the last time one of their right-wingers cozied up to a foreign fascist.

3. Sharon's government is falling apart too
and there are elections all over Europe in the next few days. Also, in the Netherlands the liberals did very well yesterday, because of the anti-war sentiment there.

I expect that there's going to be lot of regime changing going on in the next few months, including in the US.
