I was lying around today all depressed after seeing the new torture photos here when suddenly the phone rang. It was a very nice lady asking me to make another donation to the Kerry campaign. I told her immediately to put me down for $500.
I've been giving in $50.00 increments. I'm not sure about the campaign finance rules but I think it is important to give to JK early because of the convention situation. Once nominated he can no longer accept $$$, but I guess he can still spend the $$$ he's already got?
Can someone explain this campaign finance shit to me. Once JK accepts the nomination, am I better off giving my $30 a month to MoveOn or somebody, or can the Kerry for Pres folks still use my massive donation to buy coffee or something.
Nomination at the party convention ends the primary phase. The candidate can no longer receive donations to the campaign. Both candidates then receive an approximately equal amount of $$$ from the FEC for the general election.
Five fewer weeks to raise $$$ is a huge disadvantage, and Kerry lost one other entire week of fund raising due to the festival of St. Reagan...
