"It's all down to likability"
Edited on Sun Jun-13-04 09:45 AM by khephra
"More people would rather have a BBQ done by Bush than Kerry."

A BBQ?

A FUCKING BBQ?

THAT'S WHAT QUALIFIES ONE TO RULE THE FREEPING WORLD???

We are FUCKED if the majority of people REALLY think this.

(From Faux New Sunday, so no link)

1. That is stupid but what do you expect from Faux not news?
The party drunk or "that guy" is always more fun then the hard working serious guy.

My brother-in-law was "that guy" at a new years eve party and he was hilarious! That doesn't mean I want him as my President!

2. A significant minority does really think this.
I know people who didn't vote for Gore because he was 'too stiff' or 'too wooden'. I'm wondering, 'okay, what about the issues?'

4. Unfortunately, you are right. We have too many Britney Spears
type brains saying "We must believe our President and love our country. Whatever he president determines is right is OK by me."

6. I remember that poll.....
It came out a few weeks ago, I can't remember who did it, though.....

Another interesting thing from that poll was, they asked people who they would rather have run their family business, and a majority chose Bush*, I guess these people haven't heard that every company he's ever run, he's run straight into the ground.....

8. There are a lot of people like that, buy not everyone, especially...
with this election. A lot more people are thinking and not just voting
with their emotions. There is too much at stake.

If the Bush Administration is counting on him winning with the
"BBQ vote" they are in for a big suprise. This is more of the rich
Republican fantasy that the only thing that counts is image.

10. And you believe it?
Perhaps you should use your channel lock. Cable "news" channels have really poor ratings. They have no influence. Why do you watch this channel when there so many better? You do pay for it.

13. I heard this very thing today on a Black Forum
that I saw while flipping channels on NBC.They were talking about Reagan and his popularity and one said it came down to like ability. So if you are liked you can sell snake oil as long as it is with a grin on your face and a knife in their back.

12. Thanks, Kef
I'm so sick of that poll being crammed down my throat.

Tweety was harping on it 24/7 (before Reagan died).

The thing is -- * is a baffoon -- so I could see people wanting him at a barbeque as "entertainment".

However, I'd be afraid to let that idiotic klutz anywhere near the fire.

I'm more selective about the company I keep. The man can't engage in a decent conversation, and he would probably hog all the alcohol.

Idiots need not apply.

16. They don't realize Bush wouldn't want to have a BBQ with them.
Edited on Sun Jun-13-04 01:08 PM by Redleg
The dumb fucks are too stupid to know that Bush is an elitist and would never have ribs and a beer with the common folk. Bush's buddies are like Ken Lay- they have something to give Bush.

Too bad politics is no longer about issues and policies. Now it's about BBQ and good times. Fuck that.

18. That's the "moderates" that the DLC always tries to get.
The ones who vote on well thought out issues like:

What kind of shorts does he wear?

What's his favoritie rap group?

Does he like Pepsi or Coke?

And, such other pertinant issues.

Exasperating isn't it?

20. same schtick but no one's buying anymore
This likeablity bullshit is the same tactic they used on Al Gore when defining the choice in 2000. Unfortunately, the Repugs have underestimated how well-defined a shithead Bush is. People like Kerry. People really dislike Bush. The more attention they draw to this distinction, I'm convinced the more people will vote for Kerry. BBQ with Bush? no way. I can't stand to be in the same room with a shithead who can't string together a coherent sentence.
