Greg Palast ('Best Democracy Money Can Buy') on Tavis Smiley (realaudio)
NPR's Tavis Smiley talks to BBC journalist Greg Palast about the election issues in Florida and the latest edition of his best-selling book, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.

It was a good interview and a great example of how the facts are reaching the masses. It's a good review of 2000 election and a caveat about 2004.

1. Biggest spoilage of black votes: FL (R), GA (D), and Chicago, IL (D).
Daley's machine and the GA democratic party (which are both very white) shut out black politicians in the primaries by spoiling their votes.

Pallast says there are too many Democrats whose career depends on not counting votes.

So, you'll find lots of Ds in Ga and Il who aren't so interested in counting every vote.
