Farenheit 9-11 Distribution....well. I AM suprised.
Edited on Sun Jun-13-04 02:04 PM by Waverley_Hills_Hiker
I would figure this movie would be limited to the "art house circuit" for distribution (Miramax pretty much distributes to this market, and this is one of those movies that would play well to that customer base).

Doing a search on the distribution in Louisiville, I see that, yes, it is playing at the local art house..the Baxter cinemas....but its also playing at two big suburban multiplexes...."Tinseltown" and 'Stoneybrook".

So, this movie is actually getting out to the suburban market, at least in Louisville.

In SW Ohio..the Cincinnati/Dayton area...it has a much more limited distribution. No "art houses" at all, but the movie will be showing at one suburban multiplex outside of Cincinnati.

Moore has crossed the threshold. He's guaranteed box office.

7. BfC was the largest grossing documentary EVER.
It's not that he's mainstream so much as that he's money in the bank.

I am surprised. But its a college town. This is definitely good news, and I am definitely going to get a group together - including some Bush-loving friends of mine.

5. Terrific! This is great that it will be suburbia
so it can't be dismissed as just for the intellectual elite arthouse crowd.

6. Miramax isn't the distributor.
And Moore means money for the theatres, so it'll play everywhere. The bigger a deal the RWers make about it, the bigger it'll get, so I hope they keep raising a stink.

8. It's distribution is still pretty limited.
In San Diego it is only limited to chains that play independent films...Not one of the big chains like Edwards or Kirkorian is picking it up...Not one. That applies to Los ANgeles too.
Luckily we have a chain of theaters that does do independent film on a regular basis...
So does the films distribution exceed the 500 theaters, as we originally feared..?

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/06/13/MNG2K75D7S1.DTL

"It will be in 700 theaters," Moore said. "It's the largest opening I've had, four times the number of screens that 'Columbine,' was on." Moore won the Oscar for best documentary for his 2002 "Bowling for Columbine."

16. Not being release ANYWHERE in Atlanta
not even the LeFont theaters which usually always show the controversial films. I'm calling LaFont's offices tomorrow, as well as AMC and Carmike. I am REALLY going to be pissed if I I have to drive to another state to see this (which I plan on doing BTW if it doesn't show in GA).

29. It's at the Davis........Sheridan Road, I think.....may be wrong
isn't it most important to be shown in swing states?

I know everybody wants to see it, but what Ohio, WVA, MO, Iowa, WI, etc should be getting blanketed

if it hits the first few weeks, it'll open much wider, though, so go early, go often......bring your friends
