"Why do you hate John Kerry so much?" Do you ever ask your typical
local Republican voter that? What kind of answer do you get? Do they even really know anything about the guy other than snippets from hate radio?

This is important because a common Republican position seems to be to acknowledge that Bush sucks, but "I'm gonna vote for him anyway because Kerry will be even worse."

1. He flip flops.
That seems to be the standard response. No further details can be provided, just a nebulous "I just don't like him". It's frightening how uninformed people can be. Oh, and he looks "French", too. :eyes:

6. Every Republican with whom I speak says they get a bad vibe from Kerry.
Edited on Sun Jun-13-04 02:50 PM by patriotvoice
And I agree with them; there is something about Mr. Kerry that disturbs a non-rational instinct of mine.

For those who wish to label me, I assure you that my disturbance by Mr. Bush is not visceral and far more rational.

Anyway, what I tell these Republicans is simple: Bush has screwed us. If we vote him again, he will continue to screw us. If we vote John Kerry in, at least we only might get screwed.

As for the Republicans who try to impugn Mr. Kerry on his record, vis-a-vis Mr. Bush, they are simply delusional: every political, fiscal, and moral qualm are either fictional or are slight compared to the doctrines currently in place.

On edit:
Clarifications.

To give you a quick start:

skull n bones bush

skull n bones kerry
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=skull+n+bones+kerry

-------------------
and yeah, most republicans think that smearing a brown substance over someone else in prison is ok, and not that bad, they seem not to know that people have died in these prisons and far worse things have happened.
The destruction of the constitution has been all in Bush's name, but they believe it's for their own protection / and they are willing to give anything for 'security'. / Nothing will ever happen to them.
And they also believe they have the greatest social system ever created and that the poor can get everything they want / medical care / school for free and they ofcourse have to *unrightfully pay big bucks for it all*.
Choosing a president is choosing between two evils (and in this case I agree with them) - so they choose Bush / cause hey, they've been voting reps for many years.
which means, Bush is their leader and he's been a great leader so far for them cause they refuse to listen what's really happening.
Welcome to the real world where people are so scary.

9. I'd look them in the eye and say "why do you hate me so much?"
Make it personal. If they ever actually met John Kerry in person, do you think they'd hate him so much?

They've been told to hate and they think they're doing their "duty".

10. I think an appropriate line of discussion is to point out that the central
aspect of any election at the end of an incumbent's first term is that it is a referendum on whether the incumbent has done a good job and is deserving of a second term. Have any of you taken up this discussion with these Repub voters? Do most of them actually think shrub has done a good job as president and is deserving of a second term?

11. All I get from the repugs I know is - Clinton/Monica/Clinton/Monica etc.
They haven't even paid any attention to Kerry - they just so HATE Clinton because of the Monica Lewinsky shit that they think somehow Bush is the only one who can save them. I have yet to meet a single person voting for Bush that has had one thing to say about Kerry. All they can harp on still - four years later - is Clinton. Had one say to me, "Because of Bill Clinton, I had to explain to my 12 year old what a blow job was! I will never vote for a Democrat!" Okay, first off, I teach 11 year olds, and believe me - she didn't have to tell the 12 year old what a blow job was, secondly, Clinton wasn't the reason for the 12 year old hearing about the blowjob - it was the Starr report. If the repubs would have let Clinton's private life BE private no one would have had to explain a blow job to their kids.

Face it - most of these people are idiots. They get all their disinformation from Faux and Limbaugh. They wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on the ass. That's what we are dealing with. Our media is so biased now, that you have to be your own detective to find the truth.

12. My Mom votes Republican...
She says that she just doesn't like Kerry's personality and she'll never forgive him for protesting the Vietnam conflict. She doesn't care whether the conflict itself was right or wrong...everyone should have supported the troops, done their duty, and STFU.

13. He'll raise the tax on gasoline by $.50/gal.
Honest, that's one of them. The other is Vietnam -- they say he didn't deserve his medals.

Then they go on to say he's rich, and his wife is rich.

They tell me that Kerry has no "guts" and Bush does.

And besides, he's a "lib-rul" although they have no idea what that really means.

Go figure . . .

I'm trying real hard NOT to talk to any of them.
