Has anyone called for Ashcroft's head?
Not having TV anymore, I can't keep up like I used to, so I'm wondering if the world continues to turn as usual after the attorney general of the US told congress to go fuck themselves. Has any national figure called for his head?

Or does this not even merit discussion on what passes for the news media these days? Did none of the pundits and sabbath gasbags take note of the cliff we've jumped off of? The only mention in the news media I've seen is Molly Ivins' recent column.

7. But, unlike Nixon's Admin, this one still believes it is in the right
I get from those who did the perp walk and those who did not, that they thought what they were doing was wrong and hid it for that reason. However, this Admin and all the President's men seem to feel that they are in the right, but they need to hide it from their "enemies", many of whom they feel live right here in river city. I think that is a fundamental difference between the two, and why it has gone so much farther down that road to the abyss.

5. Technically, Al called for him to resign a couple weeks back

Welcome to DU.

It just blows my mind that there is not more outrage over this. These people voted almost unanimously (or was it unanimously?) for this unstable, incompetent, occluded boob. I hope they regret their support. In fact, if there are any consciences left on capitol hill, and if there's any justice in the world, the whole lot of our congress critters should be unable to sleep at night for all the things they have allowed to happen.

6. Republicans control the Senate and the House, and Ashcroft
Republicans control the Senate and the House, and Ashcroft and his cronies have a Power-without-Conscience mentality.

Do what you can to help us get 51 Senators if we're going to address this sort of arrogance.

8. Republicans control:
The Senate, The House, The Executive Branch, The Judicial Branch and, by and large, the Media.

So what else is there?

11. It comes down to spine, I guess
I know there is little chance of punishing the bastard, but the dems have to speak up, regardless of whether they feel they can win the battle or not. If all they can do is sit on their hands and say, "oh, we better not say anything that might piss off the GOP," then what good are they?

Good on Pelosi. I wish I could get frigging real player to work on this mac so I could watch the testimony, but I'd probably just do this:

:argh:

9. One of the NYT headline editors answered one of my emails on this subject
His response was that he did not see it as newsworthy.

WTF?

12. WTF indeed!
It's not newsworthy when the AG refuses to comply with reasonable congressional demands? Ye Gods! Meanwhile, Kerry is described as a "caged hampster" or somesuch. The Times is just worthless.
