1. Yippee
another gem. Only problem: so many books, so little time. If only I could get paid to do what I love ... read all the anti-Bush books, articles, web links ...

5. Sorry... there was a radio person as part of a Laura's program and
she said she is interviewing him about his book this coming week. But I HAVE NO IDEA WHO SHE WAS. I tuned Laura after the program started. But she did say that if we thought John Dean was pissed it is nothing compared as to how pissed Graham is.

Graham book to focus on 9-11 lapses
By Geoff Earle

Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) is writing a book that will take a tough look at the nation’s intelligence failures leading up to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and the war in Iraq.

Graham, who served 10 years on the Select Intelligence Committee and co-chaired a joint House-Senate inquiry into the events leading to Sept. 11, said he hopes to have the book completed before the elections.

7. I hope he'll tell how hard he had to squeeze to get some truth out of CIA.
BEFORE the war vote.

Walter Pincus | Washington Post | July 21, 2003

snip
Last fall, as Congress began debating a resolution giving Bush authority to go to war against Iraq, CIA Director George J. Tenet ordered six intelligence services to develop over a 10-day period a common assessment of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs and the threat they posed. A few days after the NIE began circulating, at the request of members of Congress who wanted material they could use in public debate, the administration released a 25-page unclassified summary of the 90-page classified report.

Two days later, in response to pressure from Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.), then chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, Tenet released three pages of additional information from the NIE and a classified hearing that for the first time suggested that Hussein might only use chemical or biological weapons when under threat of attack.

Friday's declassified material from the NIE gave a much more complete picture of the intelligence in the form of all the key judgments of the intelligence community.

One of the judgments was that Hussein "appears to be drawing a line short of conducting terrorist attacks with conventional or (chemical or biological weapons) against the United States fearing that exposure of Iraqi involvement would provide Washington a stronger case for making war."

Another judgment was that Iraq would "probably" attempt a clandestine attack against the United States, as mentioned by Bush - not on "any given day" as the president said Oct. 7, but only "if Baghdad feared an attack that threatened the survival of the regime were imminent or unavoidable."

8. That Daily Diary Coming In Handy
Tucker Carlson always bashing Sen. Graham - well, it won't be so damn funny when this book comes out with details about how utterly incompetent this bunch is.

9. Bingo! He can even tell he exact minute when he found out stuff,
what he was doing at the time, and his thought about the situation. He was so nice about all the criticism he got about his diary. I really liked him as a potential nominee, too bad there were so many running at that point.

. . . so he's going to be busy enough this late summer and fall without going on a book tour. ;)

13. He would be a great choice for CIA Director.
Saw him on c-span a couple of months ago and he had some great ideas about how to reform the CIA. I don't recall many specifics but greater transparency was certainly discussed at length.

14. The conundrum a person with ethics, real ethics, as I believe Bob
Graham is, faces is that the REAL meat, the detail that would expose the bush admin for the creeps that they truly are, will be "classified" and he will not be able to tell all that he would dearly love to tell. Still, what he can say will be fascinating, I have NO doubt.
