So America can't see Fahrenheit 9/11 or Garfield? These people are nothing short of nuts.

Here is the Garfield boycott:

6. I think I saw the web guy on Scarborough or someplace. They want to
boycott the "liberal Hollywood actors and actresses". So it is probably because of the actor in the movie more then anything else.

He came across as a guy who isn't very intelligent.

28. I can think of a rationale for them boycotting
almost everyone of these films...

except for word wars. The film is a documentary about scrabble players, no hollywood liberals there, and its SCRABBLE!!! I guess because it's only playing in independent theaters in NYC, and so only liberals would go and see it

What's the common thread between the movies? Two brothers is about tigers (threatening how? Because all of God's creation is "evil"?), and Spider-Man 2? Yeah, like a Freeper boycott will slow that one down!
:wtf:

10. Garfield has been boycotted as an homage to Ashcroft
Garfield, it is rumored, is said to have been fathered by a half-breed calico alley cat. Garfield's mother, as is well known, was rather "well-known" throughout the back streets of Indianapolis.

In Ashcroft's world, a little calico is all the calico Satan needs to infiltrate this world. Yes, people, Garfield is a spawn of Satan.

14. They boycott Garfield because Alan Cumming is in it...
and Alan Cumming is a Filty Sodomite.

I feel sorry for these people. They can't look past the politics of the actors, so they boycott the whole movie! I don't agree with Arnold Schwarzenegger's politics, but Terminator 2 is one the Coolest Movies Ever! I don't agree with Bruce Willis' politics either, but he was three in Die Hard movies, Pulp Fiction, and the Sixth Sense! Those are all great!

And if these people have children, it's a shame that they won't grow up watching great movies just because of their idiot parents.

15. No boycott of Saved??
I'm all for boycotting Garfield. It looks horrible. Anybody see Jennifer Love Hewitt try to promote it on the Daily Show last week? Jon Stewart is my hero.

But as for their boycotting list, why no boycotting of Saved? I didn't think it was a very flattering portrayal of nutcase, pyscho Jesus freaks. The line about planting the pipe bomb at Planned Parenthood is the funniest line I've heard in a movie in months and I see just about everything.

17. They are boycotting "Saved".
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 01:19 PM by Kid_A
Their reason is that Michael Stipe produced it, and he was opposed to the war. He's also extremely talented, which also seems to be one of the criteria for the boycott list.

18. Perhaps they own stock in "Garfield"
They want to advocate boycotting "Garfield" because they know the movie looks horrible and they realize that any controversy will bring in curious viewers.

29. Jennifer Love Hewitt is in the movie
And while I might wish to be against her, I can't be entirely against a movie that would include her, no matter how bad it looks.

Saw her on Conan and she is quite attractive.

But anyone who has a political agenda against the movie, instead of hating it because it looks horrible, is a kook.
