Hannity and Podesta Square Off

In an interview on June 3, American Progress CEO John Podesta said, "I think when you get so distant from the facts, as -- as guys like Limbaugh and Sean Hannity do, yeah, I think that tends to -- it kind of -- it tends to corrupt the dialogue." Apparently he struck a nerve with Fox News' Sean Hannity. Hannity challenged Podesta to "defend and explain one example where I -- where I said something that was so false." Tomorrow, Podesta will appear on Hannity and Colmes, which airs at 9PM on Fox News. If there is a specific Hannity falsehood you think he should mention, send it to [e-mail].

Hannity is going to deny any statement that Podesta brings up, or, at least, claim that the statement's been twisted.

The only way to catch those guys is through their own published transcripts. I doubt any of them have published their transcripts since Franken's first book on Rush.

Yep...Podesta can debunk each and every lie Hannity throws out there...and we know he will...and still will come off looking like crap. It's a no-win situation for any Democrat who ventures into that slime's egofest.

Hannity had perfect the fake outrage bit. If Podesta claims bunnypants did anything wrong, be assured he'll be attacked for being "anti-Bush" (codeword: UnAmerican) and a partisan (codeword: Commie). The next tactic Hannity will do is the parse..."tell me where he said or I said"...even there transcripts won't work...only video editing does and Podesta is screwed there.

Hannity can pull video clip after clip...have his staff doctor just hte bits of Gore or Clinton to suit his needs, play it then ask Podesta how he felt about beating his wife.

While I will be interested if this "debate" comes off tonight, I'd take it more seriously if it were in a neutral forum...like a C-SPAN booknotes program.

8. Hannity defense mechanisms

are shout, lie, shout more lies, shout insults, then rinse and repeat three times. I hope people are emailing things for John, and I hope John tells Hannity to cut the emotional rhetoric and get to the substantive argument. But, Hannity is unable to handle any reasoned argument so we'll see.
