the letters I sent to theaters
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 04:31 PM by MadashellLynn
Please show Fahrenheit 9 /11 at your theaters. It is very important that Americans are no longer denied the truth about what has transpired in the country and others since the (s)election of 2000.
I am sure you are being pressured not to show this movie. Please, Please, Please, do not succumb to the pressure of the few to deny the multitudes that can't wait to pay to see this movie. Hundreds of thousands of Americans want to see this movie, will drive far to see this movie as they will have to, and Pay to see this movie. Unforetunately you will not hear from many of them as most of us just go along day to day and mind our own business. This time it is to important for the truth to come out for me to be quiet. I would think your group would try very hard to prevent censorship of any kind invading your theaters as it has so far in this country starting with the media. Those that don't want to see this movie can stay home, But those of us, and there are many, that want to see this film can only do so if the theaters in this country have the principles and ethics to show this film in every theater. You can always remove it if it proves non profitable. Again please show Fahrenheit 9/11!

I want to thank all from the bottom of my heart for having the principle and integrity for showing Fahrenheit 9/11. Please do not allow the protest of a few to prevent the multitude of people that can't wait to see this movie. We will come to see this movie, we will pay to see this movie and unfortunately many will have to drive for hours to see this movie, due to the limited amount of screens this movie is been shown. I would think that for every person that protest this movie there are at least 1000 more that want to see this movie. unfortunately you will not hear from most of us as we usually just mind our own business. It is too important this time for the truth to come out, about what has gone on in this country since the (s)election of 2000. Again thank you for showing this film and please do not succumb to the protests of the noisy few to remove this film.

3. the film got an "R" rating but Lion's Gate is fighting it
so it's even more important to let the theatres know you are planning to attend.

'9/11's' R to be appealed

Lions Gate Films and IFC Films announced Sunday that they will contest the R rating that the MPAA has awarded Michael Moore's documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11," which will be released June 25.

The MPAA issued the rating, which requires that moviegoers under 17 be accompanied by a parent or guardian, because of the film's "violent and disturbing images and for language." Lions Gate is asking MPAA head Jack Valenti for an emergency appeal because the film is scheduled to open in less than two weeks.

In a statement, Moore said: "It is sadly very possible that many 15- and 16-years-olds will be asked and recruited to serve in Iraq in the next couple of years. If they are old enough to be recruited and capable of being in combat and risking their lives, they certainly deserve the right to see what is going on in Iraq."

Said Lions Gate Films Releasing president Tom Ortenberg: "Lions Gate Films will continue to aggressively support the artistic visions of our filmmakers. The MPAA rating applied to 'Fahrenheit 9/11' is completely unjustified. We are adamant about overturning this decision in an expeditious manner to ensure that as many people as possible, including young adults who represent the future of our nation, are able to see one of the most important and thought-provoking films of our time in theaters on June 25." Realize that most of these theaters have now AGREED to show F911. Kudos to DU!! One poster said that he thinks the only undecided is Carmike Cinemas. So be sure to show your love!!!
