Democratize the Debates!
I've long been rankled by the corrupt presidential debates, so I was happy to see some major media outlets beginning to support a recently formed alternative, the Citizens'Debate Commission. <http://reclaimdemocracy.org/articles_2004/latimes_endorses_citizens_debates.html>

The effort is clearly non-partisan, but I have no doubt that if Nader and Buchanan debated in 2000, Gore would have won by a margin that could not have been subverted.

The whole site of ReclaimDemocracy.org, one of the CDC founders is well worth exploring.

1. Hell Yeah!
Another site to visit is:

www.opendebates.org

The debates are corporate controlled and are manipulated in order to prohibit any third parties, by the two major party. This is not only immoral, but illegal (they misrepresent the debates).

The Presidential debates truly are corrupt to the core. I advise anyone to research the invormation and learn the truth about these debates. Also, there is a book called No Debate by George Farah which is recently out, if anyone wants to delve into the disturbing world that the presidential debates have become.

I would urge all candidates to do debates sponsored by the Citizen's Debate Commission. These corrupt, corporate debates are bad decisions for democracy and the American public

3. More Support for the Citizens' Debate Commission
On the page I referenced in original message, they now note that just today, two major regional papers, the Seattle Times and Portland Oregonian, added their support. Any of you who value open, democratic debate could use them as evidence of the issue's importance to lobby your local newspapers to join the bandwagon.

2. Real debates?
Wow! Pinch me - REAL candidates' debates in OUR country?
It seems that against all odds (specially prepared by corporate media interests, of course), the Citizens' Debate Commission is gaining momentum as a real option. Sure would love to see the two pre-annointed,
"realistic candidates" squirm under the bright light of searching questions about real issues we care about.
