7. Quick summary

21-year-old freeper at Vanderbilt University who also lurks here at DU took impulsive and thoughtless action that resulted in the firing of a member of DU from his job as a public radio dj in Alabama. This kid was actually the head of the Libertarian Party at Vandy; yet his actions contradict everything Libertarians believe about free speech and censorship...

Freeper read a DU thread in which member "misanthrope" expressed personal, ethical questions about a directive by higher ups at his station that he program music honoring Reagan on the day of his funeral. DU members chatted about possible reactions (much of online discussion was humorous, tongue in cheek advice during a difficult week). Unfortunately, DU member misanthrope gave enough of his personal info in the thread to give freeper lurker the tools to find out his identity, and the guy actually emailed DU member's boss and complained about the "planned sabotage" of the radio show the next day.

DU member didn't even get to go on air - was fired by phone within hours of the online conversation.

Two most extensive threads on this from last Friday seem to have been removed, probably for legal reasons. Here is some info that is still available:

5. The last post I read by him stated that his lawyers have told

him to stay off DU until the matter is resolved. Maybe someone is in touch with him and can fill us in.

with the attorney. I had offered to publicize his case and take a swipe at NATIONAListic rePUBLICan RADIO while I was at it. He said that things were just getting started, so I said I would wait.

9. Yes, as curious as all of us are, I'm sure he will tell us what he can

when it is not against his best interest to do so. He's probably not supposed to discuss it, especially not on a public message board! And I would think that goes for any of us; we should let him be the one to directly divulge any updates, since hearing from anyone else would be secondhand info, if not potentially hurting his case.

10. I did some googling of the little shit that ratted him out . . . turns out

the guy belongs to a "porsche club."

Not only is he an arrogant rich bastard, he has to go out of his way to make life hell for somebody who works for a living.

Oh well, I guess that's how you compensate when you're a man without a dick.

On edit--I'm twice his age, and from the looks of the weedy bastard, I could kick his ass every which way from Sunday.
