This is certainly out of the box thinking
OK

This came to me when I was watching IMUS on DVR late tonight.
I'm from New York City, so I get the premise of the show.
Imus is backing Kerry, so I'll watch him until he jumps ship.
Just like with the Lakers.

Typical lineup.
Evan Thomas Newsweek
Howard Fineman Newsweek MSNBC

Lots of talk about the Reagan idol worship, 24X7 overkill.
Ten minutes of discussion about Ron Reagan Jr. and his comments at his fathers funeral.
Discussion about the obvious slams on Bush and his religious fervor.
Discussion about the possible political aspirations of Ron Reagan Jr. and the bump he has from his Fathers legacy.

And then it came to me.

Kerry / Reagan Jr.

Look this is insane, but tell me three things aren't true.

1: The American people are stupid.
2: Everything Reagan is good for the next six months.
3: Bush is not anything Reagan was and stupid America knows that.

This is a dead solid lock.
After all, how important is the VP?

Excluding the CURRENT VP that is.

Tell me I'm crazy.
We got to get this guy out.

2. We don't need Reagan or McCain even to get him out.
Kerry will win in a reasonably honest election. That is the key, an HONEST election.

5. I hope you took the joke in the spirit in which it was intended.

Still a retarded idea though (outside even the official retarded box--a monumental task at DU, I would say). :-) :-)

Drinks are on me.

8. Yes, well, as is my sister.
Please, take your victimage elsewhere. I will not shed a tear.

I have given my life to the cause. Forgive my Southpark humor, but that is all it is intended as.

If we all choose to be hurt by the pain inflicted throughout our lives, then what's the point of living.

I wish I could say I'm sorry for your child, but I'm not. I love my sister as much as any human I have known. I mock her as much as I mock my cardiologist uncle. Dear God, they're human beings, and humans are meant to be mocked.

I am sorry if my words hurt you. I know intentions mean next to nothing in this world, but I did not intend to cause pain to your sensibilities. But I will not shy away from treating my sister, and others who have some sort of handicap (physical, mental, or social), with the calousness I treat "normal" people everyday.

13. I don't get it..
You like callousness? You like being insensitive? you like dishing out verbal abuse? Why? What satisfaction do you get being callous? Do you think it looks good on you? Why?
How do you like receiving callous snippy one liner zingers? Are ya good at pretending it rolls off your back?
Callousness is just an excuse for a choice to have stunted empathy. And the woman who asked you to be kinder is not wrong for asking.

If more people were more sensitized to each other's hurt instead of insisting on posing as callous, hard nosed bad asses,Culture could change.Bullies cannot do the crap they do without a culture that tolerates and encourages them. Kindness alters how we relate to one another as equal human beings. If more people developed empathy instead of ego,our situation might actually improve. It starts when we decide to grow past our own ass-holiness enough to have compassion and see beyond what we want or prefer even when it hurts our arrogant image that isn't really who we are anyways..
Just some thoughts...

3. You're wrong
1. Americans are not stupid. At all.
2. Everyone knows that Reaganweek was one big whitewash.
3. Seriously, Reagan wasn't all that. He was about as stupid as Bush, and his administration was almost as criminal.

Also, there was a thread about this last night.

9. We don't have to out-Republican the Republicans
We don't have to run a Republican on the Democratic ticket.

Or a Reagan.

In a fair election, Kerry should win 58% or more of the vote. My god, with 10% of the media giving him a fair break, he would win 62% to 65% of the vote.

In a really rational world, Bush would get the votes of execs at top pharmaceutical companies, top tobacco companies, top media companies, top oil and mining companies, plus the top 5 or 10% wealthiest. Plus maybe anyone who would go to jail soon if Bush weren't in the White House preventing full investigations. No one else has a reason in the world to vote for him.

The machines are rigged. I think there have been instances of rigging for years, but now the vote thieves have gone whole-hog -- no limits, barely even attempting to keep the thievery within bounds of believability.

So, this election is not about who is picked as running mate. This election is about HOW WE COUNT THE VOTES.

Even Geraldine Ferraro was a Congresswoman... :)
