Powell: "...nobody can get away with that now..."
Just heard this on Newsnight: Powell was being interviewed and was saying that the misrepresentation of the terrorism numbers wasn't "a deliberate attempt to cook the books; nobody can get away with that now...", and then the show cut away from the interview...

Um...so...you WERE trying to get away with things before, but it's just gotten too hot? You're huffed up with certainty and indignation because even a fool would know that those old-fashioned tricks just don't work now, and all of your mob knows that?

I'm so sick of this man. He's just an embarrassment to himself and he's an enabler par excellence; whatever combination of vanity and complicity it is that's compelling him to continue doing this is just repulsive. What a vile creature.

The Reagasm has blown out all the flames, but it shouldn't take much time to light the pilot lights.

2. Could he, perhaps,
have deliberately phrased it that way in order to maybe in some small way make an accusation at someone else?

Hmm.

3. I heard that on the news radio and recognized it instantly
"Nobody can get away with that now."

"You mean, as opposed to before, when it was easy to do so?"

7. That one would EVEN THINK of pulling crap like that is infuriating
Obviously, such a move would just be another tool in the ol' bag of tricks. This is where military people are so dangerous in politics: the military is based on engineering of the most amoral kind, with the only objective of one's actions being getting your way.

Things we may never find out, or that the fascist hordes will not believe when those things are finally uncovered by a Kerry Administration? hmmmm?
