My entry into the DNC Kerry ad contest....
'Prestige'

A little low-key, but i think that's what they're looking for.

1. Very well done!
Loved the quotes! I think it sends a powerful message-one Kerry should use as a cornerstone of his campaign.

3. It's really beautiful.
As a slower reader, I was grateful you gave me enough time to read each segment.
Thanks for the premiere. :)

6. You're welcome.
I had about 3 times as many quotes than i actually used - but decided to go with four (including Kerry's at the end) to keep it under the 60-second limit.

Glad you liked it. Let's hope the DNC does, too. :)

9. 'Porcelain' by Moby
I'm not a big Moby fan, but that song is just so haunting and poignant. Seemed to fit the mood i was after.

31. Great sentiment...
... but you're asking couch potatoes to do wayyy too much reading. It's different than on the web.

Very impressive and intelligent.

Just one thing......at least a third of this country cannot read or will not take the time to.

7. Not yet.
They're doing a 'Bush in 30 Seconds' with it. Paul Begala is going to pick 10 finalists, then they'll open it up for a vote.

More info here - http://www.democrats.org/amc/

The winning entry will be played at the Dem convention, and will be shown live on national TV and featured on the DNC web site.

I'm ready for my close-up. Wish me luck. :)

12. What Kerry's slogan SHOULD be: Let's make America great again
"We're not the good guys anymore."

That just about says it all. Of course, in the eyes of much of the world, those who are powerless against our dominating influence, we were never that good to begin with.

15. Yep, that's what I do...
...among other things. I've been a self-employed web designer for almost six years now, and do a good bit of flash work.

Also a musician and writer, and I run TakeBackTheMedia with Symbolman. I officially gave up sleep about 2 years ago. :)

Thanks for the nice words. appreciate it.

24. Update: had to change the music...
Had a brief conversation with moby's record label. No go on 'Porcelain.'

I put together an atmospheric music bed that I don't have to pay for. Hope it doesn't hurt the idea too bad.

Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 07:01 PM by welshTerrier2
overall, it had a great feeling ...

a couple of nitpicks though:

1. it's a ton of reading ... can you make the same points with shorter quotes ?? additionally, i think it would reach more people if you had an announcer reading the quotes you provided (in addition to showing the quotes on the screen) ...

2. very minor point: one of the quotes included the phrase: "any more" ... i think this should be one word (i.e. "anymore") not two ...

nice job ... i hope they use it !!

30. Very nice!
Two observations:

1) Why did you select Prestige as the title and opening? That was good, but when I saw the quote with "American Values" in it, I thought man that would be a dynamite title too. Democrats believe in values, just as much as Repugs.

2) I wish I had heard it with your original music selection. The current music is kind of soothing background filler, but it doesn't really grab me.

32. It's low key but effective
I loved the quotes. Great job! I thought it was convincing and enlightening. It impressed me even though something is wrong with my speakers and I had to read it silently. I can imagine it's even better with the music! Your talent is truly awe-inspiring, American Stranger. I was "invited" to enter the contest too via e-mail yesterday, but I decided to pass since I don't even know how to post pictures. Didn't seem prudent. :D :-) Hope you win!

33. That's excellent!
The "Let's make America great once again" at the end strikes a perfect note. Doesn't pound Bush directly. Ends on an up note. Well done.
