Howard Stern, not upset that he wasn't invited to Bon Jovi/Kerry party
A caller just told Howard he should be upset because he was not invited to Jon Bon Jovi's fundraiser for John Kerry last night. Howard responded that if his presence at a fundraiser for John Kerry would hurt he did not want to be there. This is the second day that Stern has sacrificed his large ego for John Kerry.

Here is a thread from yesterday:

2. Somehow I don't think Howard minded
I doubt he's much of a Bon Jovi fan, and while I appreciate anyone who hosts a fundraiser for Kerry, JBJ is still an asshole.

3. Yes, but damnit, Kerry shoul stop treating Stern like a pariah.
It comes back to what are now constant Democratic fears of what the Bushevik Party-Loyal Sub-Media and the Corproate TV Pravda they lead by the nose, will say about us.

News Flash, John Kerry: They will say you are a lying piece of subhuman filth (though not directly, the Nazis spoiled those sort of comments for all Totalitarians who came after them) NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO!

5. For heaven's sakes, Kerry has to pick his battles....and time them as well
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 10:28 AM by hlthe2b
I don't think that he has to go out of his way to give the REPUGs ammunition against him... That does NOT have to equate to him capitulating on Stern or the whole FCC issue. After all, I've seen no evidence of Kerry saying anything that would indicate a lack of support for Stern ..If he had, I would tend to agree with you, TP.

A smart candidate will pick their battles and the timing for each. For some reason, it seems we Democrats and Progressives have a tendency to want to tie our candidate's hands with our expectations, while the RW actively embraces, and takes part in their own candidate's strategy-- or at least won't become an obstacle to that effort...

8. You are right, except I would like to see Kerry show some positive
support for Stern. NOT just remaining silent on the topic.

Does that mean he has to wage battle with the FCC on behalf of Stern?

Of course not. There is a vast difference between taking up a cause and saying a word or two o support.

And doesn't this come back to a longitme complaint about Kewrry and the Democrats in general: That we have become too afraid and too gulled by the Bushevik Media fantasy Bubble that we have no stomach to take a stand on ANYTHING for which the Bushevik Party-Loyal Sub-media could slam us.

This just smacks as being an extension of that. Is it too much to ask for a word of support?

And before you FLAME me, let me say I am working my ass off for Kerry and have donated what is for me large sums of money. So don't rip as just another blowhard. I have committed myself to Kerry on many levels. But I must say how I feel.

9. No flame here. . .
. . .like you I would be very happy to see Kerry do something proactive with Stern (maybe Chris or one of his daughter's would do the show and thank Howie for the support). But I am so pleased with Howard Stern because so many people put their own agenda in front of the greater good and he is not and they end up hurting the candidate. But I agree with you.

11. I haven't / won't flame you....
I just sit here mentally going through an almost limitless list of critical issues that Kerry needs to speak out on-- among these the Iraqi tortures, the fact that the Repugs are blocking investigation of Haliburton, the continued Bush/Cheney attempts to link 911 and Al Qeida with Iraq, the total whitewash of the 911 report/investigation, the ASSSKKKROFT abuse of the Patriot Act, including their muzzling of Sibel Edmonds and countless other whistle blowers, the failure to properly supply our troops and ongoing attempts to decrease veterans benefits while continuing to paint dems as soft on defense, the cuts in homeland security and failure to have made progress on ensuring first responders are trained and supplied, the lack of accountability to Congress for the cost of the war in $$ AND lives, the failure of the US to live up to our treaties and conventions (including Geneva, but others as well), and I could go on and on and on and on.

Somehow, against these other critical issues, I can understand and forgive Kerry if he does not expend political capital on Stern right now. Apparently, (given Howard's overt efforts to "protect" Kerry from any harm from his own problems), Stern understands as well.

No flame, here. I'm just trying to put things in perspective.

6. Howard is being very smart and pragmatic - that shows how serious
he is about getting Bush out...

I just hope that Kerry and his people would figure out someway to show their appreciation...maybe they have, behind the scenes...

12. Have you ever even heard his show? It's not on in Arkansas
I just ask because ALOT of people bash his show and bash him who don't listen which is the height of ignorance.

And no, his watching TV show is not the same thing as listening to his radio show.
