Ron Reagan, son of the late President, blasts bush!! Whoa....
The New York Times quotes Ron Reagan, son of the late president, blasting George W. Bush: "What's his accomplishment? That he's no longer an obnoxious drunk?"

"The Bush people have no right to speak for my father...These people are overly reaching, overly aggressive, overly secretive and just plain corrupt. I don't trust these people."

3. I loved this line...
Ron Reagan delivered a eulogy that castigated politicians who use religion "to gain political advantage," a comment that was being interpreted in Washington as a not-so-subtle slap at Mr. Bush....The remark has provoked intense debate among Republicans about precisely what the younger Mr. Reagan meant.

What part of NO don't they understand?

4. I never thought I would be cheering a Reagan but my opinion of
Ron keeps going up.

If that article is correct, it looks as though we will be hearing alot more from Nancy on stem-cell research.

Go Ron Reagan! Go Nancy Reagan!

I can't believe I am saying that! :P

12. I was wondering to that too.
Not maybe President, but I wonder if he might consider running for office?

He and Doria live in Seattle now, maybe he might think about running for office there.

6. Yeah, Ron Reagan is ok
Who better than the son of Raygun himself to drop science on the Bushies? I think he would know the story, at least secondhand.

14. Ron is not a Jr
Apparently it annoys him to be referred to as Ron Jr as he has a different middle name than his father. Just so you know. :)

11. Great quotes
>>The remarks caused jaws to drop in California and Washington. One Republican strategist, who would not be identified for fear of repercussions to his business, said he interpreted the remarks as a clear reference to stem-cell research, which Mr. Bush opposes on moral grounds because they require the destruction of human embryos."<<

>>It is also dear to her family. Ms. Davis wrote passionately about her father's illness in the online version of Newsweek, this week and last month. "A messy, horrible war that has spun out of control could very well determine the next election," Ms. Davis wrote before her father's death. "So should the miracle of stem-cell research - a miracle the Bush White House thinks it can block."<<

Go Ron, Go Patti!

Hell, even Michael supported what his brother said.

13. Important to note
that those comments are four years old. The more recent comments are:

"Dad was also a deeply, unabashedly religious man," he told mourners gathered at sunset at the Reagan presidential library. "But he never made the fatal mistake of so many politicians - wearing his faith on his sleeve to gain political advantage. True, after he was shot and nearly killed early in his presidency he came to believe that God had spared him in order that he might do good. But he accepted that as a responsibility, not a mandate. And there is a profound difference."

Even if this comment is a direct shot at the stem-cell issue, it's also an incredibly wise and statesman-like quote from a person that clearly understands the concept of church-state separation.

15. Ron Jr. had a short lived talk show.
I can't recall what network it was on. He was great. Ron showed himself to be highly intelligent and sharp. He clearly is a liberal in the true sense and didn't agree with many of his father's policies.
I have no idea why the show was pulled, perhaps pressure from the politicos. Had to be something like that, because he was really a great talk show host and was going to command a large audience.

Failing that, an on-air interview or two with Al Franken or Randi Rhodes?

23. It was syndicated
Around the early 90's, Ron Jr. had a short-lived nightly talk show. It was very different from the others, which ranged from celebrity/comedy gabfests like Leno and Letterman, to the Geraldos, Oprahs and Jenny Jones' of the world. This was more an intelligent talk show. Think a younger, hipper and more interesting Phil Donahue.

The show did not last long due to the glut of competition, which killed the ratings. It seemed everyone at that time had a talk show. I remember seeing it at least a few times, and he was pretty good. Kind of the anti-Morton Downey. I highly doubt there was any pressure from politicos. Nobody at that time would badmouth a Reagan.

20. Thanks Ron!
Someone I used to debate with on "the other side" (yeah the real dark one) said that very thing! She admired him because he changed his life and no longer did drugs & drink.

For THAT he deserves to be emperor?
