Rove: Yucca won't be an election issue
http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/sun/2004/jun/14/517015157.html?yucca%20mountain
The presidential race in Nevada will not come down to the state's feelings on the Yucca Mountain issue, a top presidential adviser said this weekend.

Instead, Karl Rove, the president's lead strategist, said Nevadans will base their decision on what he believes are the same factors that most Americans will -- the war on terrorism, the state of the economy and the "values" of each presidential candidate.

2. But that's what Goebbels and the rest like him always have done
You are asking Rove to buck 5,000 years of traditions of Evil Tyrannical Scum.

And HE won't be the one to break that long tradition dating back long before the "Jewish Blood Libel" and other Rovian Tidbits...

3. The truth. LOL shrub has already given.....................
Nevadans plenty of reasons to get rid of him. Hah! Blowing up the world has become a higher priority than Yucca.

12. Like many people, Nevadans are not paying attention
I tend to believe that the only reason why any person in any state who is not associated with the Religious Right would vote for Bush is that he or she is not paying attention. Although most Nevadans oppose the dump, they may not associate him with the dump. An additional problem is that more people keep on moving into Nevada everyday and they really do not understand the history of the dump.

7. It will be in Nevada!
I'm not sure I agree with JK. After all, that nuclear waste has got to go somewhere and the committee decided Yucca Mountain was the best place. Unless he has a better plan he's just playing politics IMO not that I blame him a bit cause it's got a good shot of wining Nevada for him and no one else in the country is going to care one way or the other.

13. That is a flawed theory
the waste odes not have to go "somewhere", and the rest of the country will give a damn when those mobile chernobyls start running through their back yard, and don't forget if there is an accident the wind currents run west to east. Yucca mountain is not a well tought out or scientifically sound solution, it is and was a political solution but we Democrats in Nevada will not stand still for it, and we are not basing our theories on it having to go somewhere! Nevadans do care and they are not happy with the * and though it is a "red" state things are changing. In our County which is predominately repuke we had a large parade on Sat and for the first time the Dems entered a float, we took first place and out numbered 60 to 7 the amount of people on or walking behind our float compared to the 7 women on the repuke float.

15. I meant they wont care until their area is selected
for a waste dump, well after the election. Not trying to pick a fight but I read a special committee selected Yucca Mountain after examining many proposed sites. I am sympathetic though, it sucks it has to go anywhere. and way to go on the float!

14. Nevada is not the best place in the nation for the waste
The dump will be fairly close to Las Vegas which is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Southern Nevada also has earthquakes. I honestly think that a state with a smaller population that did not have earthquakes would have been a better choice.

9. Speaking of Nevada, WTF Is Going On in The Latest LAT Poll?
I though Nevada was real close. The LAT poll has Bush w/ a significant lead:

Nevada
Mason-Dixon Polling & Research for The Las Vegas Review-Journal. March 15-17, 2004. N=625 active voters statewide. MoE ± 4:

Bush 49%
Kerry 38%
Nader 4%
Unsure 9%

10. Yeah, that's the ticket
Those Nevadans will just gloss over the fact that Bush promised not to store our nuclear crap in Yucca mountain - and five minutes after he was elected, guess what happened? Sure, it won't be an issue - in BIZARRO WORLD.
