More Bush favoritism for The Halliburtons and the rest of his cronies

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- President George W. Bush intends to damage the small business community in favor of large corporations by proposing new regulations that will ultimately reduce small business participation in U.S. federal government contracting. An emergency town hall meeting has been organized by the Association of Small Businesses in Technology, Inc. (ASBT) and will take place in Arlington, Va., on June 17, 2004 and members of the press are invited to attend.

Small businesses contribute more than 50 percent of U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provide approximately 70 percent of all new jobs created in the U.S. (source: U.S. Census Bureau). New regulations that are being proposed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) would ultimately hinder the ability of small businesses in the U.S. to compete with large corporations; such has Halliburton, for U.S. federal government contracts.

The Chairman of ASBT, Fernando V. Galaviz, stated that, "The Small Business Administration (SBA) is proposing regulations that will significantly change the present size standards which currently assist small businesses and their entrepreneurs in competing with large corporations in the U.S. federal government contracting arena".

The SBA size standard regulations are used to determine the status of a business as a small business. This new SBA scheme will contribute to making the larger conglomerate firms larger and the small business community smaller by choking the growth of small businesses that do business with the federal government.
