Forcing Prisoners to Go Naked
I wrote an essay about how forcing prisoners to stip to humiliate them was systematic at Abu Ghraib, but is also a problem in the US and elsewhere.

It's at MOVELEFT.COM under the title, "Stripping Prisoners of Their Clothes and Dignity: Overseas and in the US."

You can view it by clicking below:

1. what is wrong with this country?
gee- that could be a really long post.
I think we have forgotten our humanity and compassion.
If people could put themselves into anothers shoes, things would be very different.

Imagine the 74 year old woman that those mf'ers rode naked in Iraq was their mother or grandmother.
That those poor men in Abu Ghraib were their brothers or husbands or sons.
That the women and childern in the bombed wedding party were thier families.

We are too insulated and self righteous. What goes around comes arounf...someone stop the merry-go-round!

2. regarding the people fromt the wedding party the US killed

regarding the people fromt the wedding party the US killed:

One of the digusting aspects is that the Pentagon never admitted that they killed people who attended a wedding party, in spite of the witness testimony, dead musicians, and videotape.

If the military won't admit it did anything wrong, there is no reason to think that the next time they notice a group moving in the desert near the Iraq-Syrian border, they won't bomb them as well.

Instead of giving them a chance to surrender, the military just bombed them.

3. Letter to the NY Times from above link
(Wow. The nerve of this pinko, to question the war on terror! Who does he think he is?)

The Horror, Revisited

Published: May 17, 2004, Monday

To the Editor:

It was with dismay and horror that I viewed the photo of a cowering Iraqi prisoner menaced by vicious military guard dogs at Abu Ghraib prison (front page, May 10).

As an Austrian Jew imprisoned in Dachau and Buchenwald in 1938 and 1939, I was an eyewitness to similar inhumane behavior by sadistic Nazi SS guards.
