Neil Boortz!!!! You're a God Damn Coward!
I know you read DU nightly dressed up in your little Army outfit while being spanked by your ACME Spank-A-Matic! But we're on to you Pal. You've never served your Country in any capacity because you're a Coward of the highest magnitude! Judgment day awaits you Pal and when the decision is made you will fry in Hell....

6. Is serving in the military the only test of courage?
I can think of many brave men who did not serve-- are they by default, now cowards?

I don't know who Boorts is, but I can't condemn him as being a coward for choosing not to serve.

But I apprecitae YOUR service tremendously-- thank you.

11. First off...I suggest you learn who thy enemy is and kick them in the ass!
Secondly I suggest that you visit this link:
http://www.nhgazette.com/cgi-bin/NHGstore.cgi?user_action=list&category=%20NEWS%3B%20Chickenhawks

and learn what a Chickenhawk is.... I know many honorable men and women who did not serve in the Military... And what makes them honorable? They deplore War and they deplore sending young men to their deaths...

Chickenhawks on the other hand love doing both. They love the thought of War and they no problem sending men and women to their deaths.... But guess what...when it was their time to serve their Country they avoided doing so anyway they could! It's easy for these COWARDS to support a pre-emptive war because they never put their ass on the line when the going got tough!

On top of that, to have a Chickenhawk piece of shit like Boortz criticize Kerry's Viet Nam career when Boortz hid behind his Mama's dress to avoid going is the most cowardly thing you can do.

To defend this piece shit simply means that you seriously need to do some homework!

That is not a rhetorical question in any sense-- just curious. Airborne Rangers aren't your garden variety servicemen, but real go-getters. Not there for the paycheck, so to speak.

23. I served....and I deplore war
Just because war is deplorable does not mean it is never necessary. There are actually situations where it IS justified. WWII comes to mind - probably the most obvious example in modern times.

When I took the oath of office at my commissioning, I pledged to give my life if necessary in the defense of my country - and I made that pledge sincerely, with eyes wide open. That does not mean I do not hate war. It does mean that I recognized (and still do) that circumstances CAN occur that justify and require it. I do not believe those circumstances exist in Iraq.

Sending our fighting women and men into harms way is one of the most serious and solemn decisions a commander in chief should ever be expected to make. Sending a loved one off to war has to be one of the most painful things for a family to go through. This should only occur under extreme circumstances.

This makes the chickenhawk one of the lowest forms of life. One who would advocate the ultimate sacrifice of others, yet who personally avoids any risk of sacrifice of himself/herself. Boortz is a shining example. He knows how to talk the talk, but lacks the testicular and intestinal fortitude to do any more than that. He is an embarrassment to the men and women who have the courage to serve.

I am confident he looks at this forum on a regular basis. I am equally confident that he lacks the guts to respond or even acknowledge the comments made here!

Liberal and love my country,

av8rdave

13. Calm down Trumad ....
I used to go mano-a-mano against Neil Boortz in the mid-70s on the old Georgia Tech AM station, WGST, in Atlanta. He had a morning show then, and I worked the graveyard-shift at "The Grady" (hospital). I'd usually call Boortz at about 8:00 AM. I'd have a gin-and-tonic for breakfast, slaughter Boortz on-the-air, then sleep until late afternoon. He hated me.

22. I just lost my best friend to cancer
He was in the US Navy for 12 years and did four tours of duty in Viet Nam. His time there was spent on a battle ship. Their range wasn't very great so they had to cruise into shore fire off their guns and then high tail it out of there because they were in range of the North Vietnamese guns. They did this day after day after day and Jack never totally got over the TSD. He was also exposed to agent orange the whole time because it drifted right out to sea after it was used.

Jack suffered health problems his whole life after that. He was 62 in December and in april he died of cancer. He had no health benefits from the navy.
Now all these Viet Nam era vets are in their 50's 60s and 70s. What are we doing for them?

I hate chickenhawks. I argued with one right here on DU who, when I asked him why he wasn't signing up, told me "we have people we pay to fight in wars. Why should I go when I make so much more money here in the private sector"?

Mr Boortz, you are media-whore garbage.

35. Neal can't say anything to me
I'm protected. My son is an active duty Marine currently in Iraq. Neal is prohibited from ever saying anything, anything! to me. The bleating of chickenhawks is the worst sound mothers of soldiers can hear. These are the people who considered themselves too good to fight for our country. But they make a living boasting about American military power. I loathe these people. They're pretend warriors. They're fakes. They flog ideals they don't personally uphold. It's always someone else who does the work. Rush is a drug addict on his third divorce. Neal is a cowardly patriot preaching about duty and honor. Bush cut two years off his service, cost taxpayers thousands in worthless flight training, and leapfrogged over hundreds of more qualified applicants so he could "stand down" during his guard service. These people should be shunned.

36. God bless all of you who served
I fail to understand how chickenhawks like this who CLAIM to support the troops can so completely fail to do so. I think if one really supported the troops, we wouldn't read about crap like this:

When Ignorance Isn't Bliss

Pro-Defense: Facing increasing violence in Iraq, military commanders in Iraq asked Congress and the president to immediately fill shortages in protective body armor. Just four months after the president signed another massive tax cut for the wealthy, up to 51,000 troops were still not properly equipped for combat, with many begging friends and family at home to buy them makeshift armor. Responding to the crisis, Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) sponsored a bill to immediately plug the shortage. He was voted down (Senate vote #376, October 2, 2003), and the results have been catastrophic. As a recent study circulating in the Army notes, up to one in four casualties in Iraq was due to poor protective gear.

Compassionate: With U.S. troops struggling to secure Iraq last summer, Congress and the president repeatedly praised soldiers’ efforts and promised to provide them the best facilities possible. Yet, the White House budget that year proposed to cut $1.5 billion out of military housing. Representative David Obey (D-Wisc.) came up with a simple solution: Slightly reduce the proposed tax cuts on the 200,000 Americans making $1 million a year to fill the budget gap for the troops and their families. Instead of getting an $88,000 tax cut, millionaires would receive an ample $83,000 tax cut, and the troops’ housing would be maintained. Obey’s bill was voted down (House vote #324, June 26, 2003).

I hate the chickenhawk way of supporting the troops. I really, sincerely do.

Now that is tsepping over the line into Totalitarianism?

I went to Vietnam and served my country as asked to do. I never thought for a single minute that it was what we should have been involved with. Things as they were it took every ounce of human spirit and luck to get back home. I questioned Vietnam before, during and certainly after my tour there. But I went. Chickenhawks should never, never open there mouths regarding anyone who served particularly those that fought. It is the height of moral hypocrisy.
