Question re: RFID
Heard about that RFID thingie on Art Bell last night, and I wonder if some should be :scared: or freaked out about the whole thing because of its "Mark Of The Beastish" implicatons though they're not really that religious or fundamentalist. Am sure the privacy implications alone should make anyone be :scared: or freaked out about the whole deal.

1. man, I heard a lot of that, too, and it freaked me right out.
until she got around to the part where she did a video for some end times group.

I was wondering all the way through what her deal was, cause she sounded pretty convincing (I/ve heard about that stuff before, and they definitely use some of that tech in those store discount cards that inventory everything you buy there).
I've also heard about that Florida company that implants animals and people with those RFI chips.

If HALF of what she says is correct, then we might as well bend over, cause it's welcome to 1984, 21st Century style.

wonder what William Gibson hinks about all this crap

6. Re: The standard "GPS" microchip
Am sure the standard "Onstarlike" "GPS" microchip would be brought in with seemingly benign motivations like helping older people who were disorientated by things like Alzheimer's be found should they go astray, not to mention finding chldren and or pets who had gotten lost/ kid or petnapped, or just plain gotten missing.

BTW "Onstar" is some sort of GPS device all new cars have, that a person usually had to subscribe to or something that pinpoints their location in the event of some mishap or emergency.

2. Yes, the privacy implications are terrifying.
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 10:08 PM by jono
A new consumer goods tracking system called Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is poised to enter all of our lives, with profound implications for consumer privacy. RFID couples radio frequency (RF) identification technology with highly miniaturized computers that enable products to be identified and tracked at any point along the supply chain. 2

The system could be applied to almost any physical item, from ballpoint pens to toothpaste, which would carry their own unique information in the form of an embedded chip. 3 The chip sends out an identification signal allowing it to communicate with reader devices and other products embedded with similar chips. 4

Analysts envision a time when the system will be used to identify and track every item produced on the planet. 5

5. You should be more concerned with UPC codes than RFID
If this is the sort of thing that freaks you out.

The start, middle and end bars of the UPC are also the symbol for 6.

That means every product you buy in the US (or the developed world for that matter) it is secretly encoded with the numbers 666.

Watch the skeptics wail, but go to the store, find a UPC with the number 6 in it, look at the bar symbol above it, now look at the symbol at the beginning middle and end bars.

And another thing, Why is the UPC the only type of bar code that ~needs~ and middle bar? The symbol for six is also the only symbol that is interchangable on either side of the middle bar.

13. No, she looks intelligent,
"Ms. Albrecht points to studies from the 1960's through 1990's showing business majors scoring lowest in ratings of academic ethics among undergraduates, with marketing majors scoring among the lowest within business disciplines in one 1998 study."

and quite beautiful too.

14. I am not kidding, but I think its a funny concidence
er um, yah ha ha ha

But, in an earlier post you mentioned the affinity card, you know the one they wont let you leave the store without swiping. Turn that baby over, notice that they choose to use a UPC code on that.

None the less, I find the debunking sites have a some what weaker argument than the people advocating this.

http://www.judaismvschristianity.com/666_in_barcodes.htm

I am a big time skeptic. But, you have to decide for yourself on this one. Again there are extra weird concidences on this issue, and i think they are just that, (kinda) concidences.

10. Had remembered reading how the religious fundy types and other types of
that sort were also freaked out by the UPC bar codes when they were first brought in for that reason.

Wonder if some of them really *DID* have too much time on their hands and needed something else to do.
