Operation Window Dressing...
No one does window dressing as well as the Republican Party. Why, if one were to believe GOP appearances, Raygun and Dubya were/are decisive leaders, Condi Rice directs national security, and Clarence Thomas helps decide the nation's toughest legal dilemmas.

And so, on June 30th, with 150,000 + troops in country, we're going to turn over sovereignty (or, as Dubya calls it “soverty”) to Iraq. So the biggest problem is now: how to make this appear to be anything more than “Operation Raise a Flag”. So, we’re in for a few weeks of “power struggles” between the new puppet government and the occupying authority.

“What to do with the prisoners” is the latest dust up. By International Law, when an occupier leaves, they’re supposed to either charge or release prisoners. So now, we have this charade of a power struggle between Baghdad and Washington. Puhlease. Expect many more of these “struggles” in the coming weeks. The new Iraqi government needs all the street cred it can get.
