3. I read a thread on DU saying it would be next to his name
in the history books and wondered if thats how the * started here..

having an '*' by it because the season is longer or something. I personally like the * since it is easier to type, and evokes Kurt Vonnegut's use of it in Breakfast of Champions. I'd explain more, but while that book is maybe not Vonngegut's best, it's definitely worth reading.

5. Roger Maris - 61
When Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth's single season homerun record, there was an asterisk placed next to it in the record books because Maris had done it when the league had changed to a 162 game season from a 154 game season.

For 30 years both records were noted and Maris' was mitigated by the asterisk, which was a mandatory designation as ruled by the baseball commissioner. In 1991, commissioner Fay Vincent finally ruled that there would only be one home run record noted and eliminated the asterisk from Maris' record.

6. If he loses in Nov., and a real investigation is done about the...
2000 selection with an official report saying it was not kosher he will have the *. Also, if he gets indicted down the line he will have the *.
