Panel Says No Signs of Iraq, Qaeda Link

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&u=/nm/20040616/pl_nm/security_commission_dc_3

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Investigators have found no evidence Iraq aided al Qaeda attempts to attack the United States, a commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001 hijackings said on Wednesday, undermining Bush administration arguments for war.

The report by commission staff said al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden (news - web sites) had met with a senior Iraqi intelligence officer in 1994 and had explored the possibility of cooperation, but the plans apparently never came to fruition.

(snip)

"There is no convincing evidence that any government financially supported al Qaeda before 9/11 -- other than limited support provided by the Taliban after bin Laden first arrived in Afghanistan," it added.

1. Nope, they'll say the panel is "politicized"
They'll never give up on their myths. That's like asking a fundie to give up on the universe being created in seven days 10,000 years ago.

My analogy is different than yours, of course, but we are saying the same thing.

6. Your answer is on another thread here on the board. . .
about Dan Bartlett, Communications Director for Bush & Co. who just said to Wolf on CNN that there is a connection between the two. So that's a big Hell No. They'll insist they're right about this til their dying days in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

11. Hookay so the new spin is, according Danielle Pletka of
the American Enterprise Institute (do I smell PNAC?), that guys like Osama bin Laden and Mohammed Atta are bad guys who came after us. If we don't take out bad guys like Saddam Hussein, they will come after us. So when they string those names together in one paragraph the weak of mind make the association that they are in cahoots, which is untrue.

These neo-con apologists never give up. I fault news outlets like CNN for being part of the problem. These people should never be given a forum to air their propaganda after the facts are out, unless they are challenged. Spreading journalistic lies is not freedom of speech. Anyone who says this should be challenged by the program host, which in this case is done by Wolf Blitzer. Someone really needs to give him a raspberry award for whore journalism.

12. No, of course not, I actually had one freeper tell me that
Rumsfield was "too politically correct for his taste" when I reminded him that Rumsfield, while testifying before Congress, admitted that the Geneva Convention does apply to the prisoners in Iraq.

13. What do they have if they admit to al Qaeda and Iraq? Nothing!!
Besides if Cheney sez there's a connection it must be true.

Cuz the dick is loaded for bear.

15. Odd isn't it that Josepf Goebbels looms large here.
As Josef Goebbels, (Hitler's infamous propaganda chief) stated:'If you tell a big enough Lie, and keep on repeating it, in the end people will come to believe it.'

They're like every asshole boss or manager you've ever had. For them, if the facts don't conform to their theory, then the facts must be discarded.

19. You know those stupid trick candles
that un-funny people put on birthday cakes? The ones that, even after they've been blown out, keep flaming back up? Those candles remind me of Cheney's neverending claim that Saddam and Osama were in bed together. Everytime intelligence experts tell us that there is no credible evidence showing a Saddam-Bin Laden link, Cheney or some other Bush crony essentially ignores the facts and continues to repeat the same old lies.

Why do they do this? Because they can. The SCLM refuses to use the word "lie" in connection with the Bush administration. If Cheney didn't lie, then what did he do?
