What IS their ideology?
All I have seen about aQ and the Taliban is that they hate Americans, they hate women and they want to install a radical view of Islam. But, I have seen no publications from them that detail their ideology.

Does anyone have any further knowledge about these people?

1. I do know they kept order and kept the warlords powerless

which is the reason they were accepted in the first place, even by the women they were oppressing. After all, what good is being able to dispense with the burqa if you are terrified to go to the market just to buy a little food?

I think if they'd been less heavy handed in their obscene interpretation of Islamic law regarding women, they'd have been hailed as the liberators of that country by the world's people. I also think their abolition of opium cultivation was too successful for them to remain in power for long.

2. They have a vision of a ME united in a fundamentalist vision of Islam
They also want all Westerners out, including Israel...

And this vision of Islam is the most extreme variant possible...

3. Conquer the World, and if anyone calls us Nazis for that, crush them.
That'll demonstrate they're not Nazis.

Sometimes I think they're just indulging their greediest, most perverted desires becasue they believe the world is about to end and they are entitled simply because they can.

Jesus will forgive them.

Hey, stupid. That's not really the idea behind Jesus forgiving you, you know. You are also supposed to emulate his kindness, charity and self sacrifice, remember?

Well, I can't explain it all, it's a variety of factors that plays around everything. But there's a strong point that indicates the stronger violence from extremist groups after Gulf War I. This has also been ignited cause of the many US-Troops being present in the middle east (their holy land) and American top officials mixing in with Saudi top officials ......which indeed gives an impression as of a hostile take over from foreign countries.

AQ + Taliban / I'm not sure to what extend these organisations still exists or whether it are splinter groups with same ideals working right now. In my opinion, people scream out AQ or Taliban, but personally I think it are splinter groups.

As with all fundementalists (and also the American fundementalist Christians) they have their 'own' ideas about the world. Leaving them in their own world, they will not do alot of harm / but when threatened for having to give up their ideals etc. etc. they sure will strike hard. Invading their 'holy land' really set it off.
Personally I see any fundamentalists groups right now as the Catholic church was WAY WAY back in the middle ages. They need time to grow, and develop.

The following link I found interesting in regard to your question about ideology

Combating the Ideology of Radical Islam

Also I urge you to find some time to watch the following documentary in regard to the appearance of the Carlyle group right after Gulf War I. First coupla minutes in Dutch, the rest is in English. It's about the Carlyle group but matches up nicely with your question. http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/tv/vpro/tegenlicht/bb.20030516.rm
