"Baptists praise Bush message to right"
The Houston Chronicle's Religion Editor, Richard Vara, reports from the convention:

INDIANAPOLIS -- President Bush brought thousands to their feet Tuesday in a brief broadcast to cheering Southern Baptists that promoted his politically conservative stances on gay marriages, abortion and human cloning.

"My administration is defending the sanctity of marriage against activist courts and local officials who want to redefine marriage forever," Bush told wildly applauding Southern Baptists assembled for the opening of their annual two-day meeting.

The 16.3 million-member denomination is nationally known for its staunch conservative positions that mirror many of the president's right-of-center Republican stances. Moreover, the denomination's Southern base, including Texas, is crucial to Bush's re-election bid.

3. Oh, what an endorsement. That ought to win over 3 or 4 swing voters.

5. How about his asking the Vatican Sec of State to get a plug
from the Pope. That fucking idiot has the audacity to suck up to the Catholic Church when we all know that the religious right has no use for Catholics anyway.

The religious right (including the Southern Baptists) are the only ones who haven't seen the light yet. He can hide behind the flag, behind the cross, behind anything but it doesn't change the fact that he is the worst president in history.

6. That's funny......
I heard an author on NPR the other day (if someone knows or remembers his name please let me know). He was a repub back during the raygun years......has since come to his senses though. He said it was funny that the repugs are all for all this great stuff as the Ten Commandments, school prayer, anti-gay marriage laws, pro-life.....but they never actually DO anything about it. Think about it.....when was the last time any repug actually passed a law that fits their self righteous moral dellusions? They have tried a few times here and there but the courts always shoot them down....:)

7. What they don't understand is that....
when God created man he wasn't a white southern republican. The evangalistics believe everyone but them are going to hell.....and at the same time they are allowed to hate blacks, Mexicans and foreigners. They forget the part that man was made in God's image......this makes us ALL the same......to take it one step further....deep down we are all one and the same....the SAME person....we are all son's and daughters of God
